Street artist and photographer Ozkar Gorgias has spent the past 12 years creating graffiti around Europe painting abandoned buildings, subways and roof tops (see more on his blog). With him throughout the journey were many pairs of well-worn sneakers. A hazard of the occupation, these simple shoes became splattered with his paint and dirt. Only an artist would think to display the grungy shoes, but his creation is remarkable. Titled “12 Years Graffiti Writing,” Ozkar Gorgias photographed 12 pairs of his Jackson-Pollock-esque shoes on a white background. The piece functions as a documentary of Gorgias’ transitory work as well as his process. It might not be what 12 years of my footwear would look like (there would be heels, lots of heels.) but exploring the past through possessions is an interesting way to explore functionality, consumerism and our impulse to hold onto personal belongings.

What would a display of your footwear say about you?

PARIS–Here’s a rumor that makes absolutely no sense but a credible source swears it’s true: Blake Lively is allegedly refusing to attend Chanel, even though she’s the face of the brand, because, our source says, “she thinks it’s tacky for a celebrity like herself to attend the show.” Instead, she’s planning to host a dinner during Paris Fashion Week to give press the opportunity to chat with the face of Chanel’s new Mademoiselle handbag line. And we hear it’s quickly become a hot-ticket item.

This doesn’t make sense for several reasons:

Mugler–under Nicola Formichetti’s creative direction the label is now just called “Mugler” instead of “Thierry Mugler”–has steadily been rolling out “inspiration images” in advance of Formichetti’s first women’s collection for the brand which shows Wednesday night in Paris. The shiny black alien-like sculpture we saw glimpses of in the inspiration photos is now more clearly revealed in this new video. Meaning, we can see the sculpture in its entirety and in greater detail, but what the hell it is or what it means for Formichetti’s collection we can only begin to guess. Which makes us even more excited to see his show.

Another reason to get excited for Mugler (which will stream live on Wednesday 2nd March at starting at 9PM CET/3 PM EST on the brand’s Facebook page–and is still listed as Theirry Mugler for some reason)? Lady Gaga, naturally.

This morning UK tabloid The Sun released a disturbing cell phone video which reveals a seemingly drunk John Galliano at a cafe hurling appalling anti-Semitic insults at patrons nearby.

“I love Hitler,” he says. “People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be f**king gassed.”

According to The Sun, the video was taken at La Perle, the same cafe where the designer allegedly attacked Géraldine Bloch and Philippe Virgiti last week which resulted in his arrest and suspension at Dior. According to the Daily Mail Galliano called Bloch an “ugly, disgusting whore” with a “dirty Jew face.” (Galliano subsequently launched a counter-claim of defamation against Bloch and Virgiti).

Today also brings word that a second complaint has been filed against John Galliano for allegedly making anti-Semitic remarks, WWD is reporting. Galliano’s lawyer, Stéphane Zerbib, confirmed to WWD that another complaint was filed Saturday by a woman who claims she was the victim of a verbal attack at the same La Perle cafe a few weeks ago. It is unclear whether the second complaint is in anyway related to the leaked cell phone video.

Watch the video below, but be warned it is highly offensive:

MILAN–As much as former Fashionista editor Britt Aboutaleb wants the velvet trend to die, I want the pinstripe trend to succeed.

Apparently, so does Salvatore Ferragamo designer Massimiliano Giornetti. Nearly half the looks in yesterday’s collection were pinstripe, and when they weren’t, we saw dots, houndstooth, and check.

It was all very ’80s, and for a girl like me who loves power suiting, it was good. From the bow collars to the slicked back hair, it’s obvious that Giornetti’s woman is sentimental for Armani and could do without the current minimalist trend.

MILAN–Young designers often find it difficult to balance two separate collections. Unlike the Karl Lagerfelds of the world, these emerging talents–Marios Schwab, Richard Nicoll, Jason Wu come to mind–don’t typically have massive teams to help them complete their workload. Sometimes, their talent allows them to overcome the challenge. Sometimes, it doesn’t.

For Christopher Kane, who designs both his namesake collection and Versace’s Versus, this hasn’t been a problem.
