Adventures in Copyright: Isabel Marant Gets Shoedazzled
By Sarah Ferguson
Isabel Marant’s bow-embellished pumps were the must-have shoe last season. We saw them all over fashion editorials and on the feet of the cool girls. Recently, we saw them again on the cover of People StyleWatch under a title boasting “Great Buys! Under $99!”
Isabel Marant shoes for less than a $100? Not so much. The shoes in question turned out not to be the “Poppy” suede mid-size heel by Marant, but the “Amanda” suede mid-size heel by ShoeDazzle, a weird e-commerce site that’s not very easy to use.
Identical in appearance, it seems that the only difference between the two is the price. While Marant’s Left Bank creation retails at $620, ShoeDazzle is offering their version at an almost criminal $39.95. Although we can’t imagine the “Amanda” will withstand many wears, we have to admit–we’re tempted. Would you buy ShoeDazzle’s imitation?

Sorry guys, this is pretty weak. As much as i adore Isabel Marant, she did not invent a pointed toe pump with a bow on it.
It was their retro charm that made them so popular and perfect for the moment.
The copy kept none of the charm or modernization of the Marant pumps. The bow is square-cut and placed in the center, and the colour is way more staid.
Shocking. Uuugh. How dare they. -.-
Honestly? The only criminal thing about this post is the suggestion to pay over 600 bugs to buy anything else but Manolos or Louboutins. I would buy the “fake” ones. Immediately.
I don’t think it was “criminal” (if that was the case, 95% of the fashion industry would be arrested), just a great shopping aide.
That much for shoes is not criminal. My ex makes custom shoes, he would spend 30-50 hours on one pair sometimes, he could never afford to charge less than $300-400 for most pairs.
Wow…it must be a slow news day in the world of Copyright. I clicked the link hoping to find a an adorable copy of the Black and White hi-top sneakers. Ah well!
I have the same shoes from another brand, the only difference is they have the black heels … I wish I could show you a picture because it’s incredible …
The price? EUR 19.95 ahaha… I love Isabel Marant, but I think the same … would only pay that amount for Manolos or Louboutin, baci!!

I would buy them. Of course.
NO! I never heard of Shoedazzle and don’t care to! I own the Poppy in Red, Black, and the new Cream and Blue colors! Isabel’s Marant prices are very affordable, I think, compared to the average Louboutin. In nay case, the more you pay for a shoe the more comfortable it is on your feet. That’s what it is for me. Knock-off’s have no place in the world for me!!!
I worry that a $40 shoe would just fall apart in a few months, sort of the Payless syndrome. I am not above buying a lower priced shoe but I hate to fall inove with a pair only to have the sole wear through and the heel grind down.
I’m with you. I buy cheap pairs of shoes every year in the $100-200 range, but my best pairs are boots that are over a decade old and cost only 3 to 4 times as much new. The cheaper pairs generally are toast by the end of the second season.
