Cushnie Et Ochs Fall 2011: Xena the Native American Warrior Princess
By Sarah Ferguson
Citing a trip out west as inspiration, designers Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs created a collection worthy of a fierce Native American chieftess. Feathers extending from slick buns acted as accessory to sexy form fitting black dresses with cutouts and elastic cording, as well as flaired trousers paired with leather tops.
Fittingly, there was plenty of fringe–goat hair extended from the hem of dresses and from the sleeves of a leather blouse, and strips of leather streamed down the front of a sheath.
The color palette kept to black with some silver metallic and that deep periwinkle blue we’ve been seeing everywhere this season mixed in. A purple python cropped bomber jacket evoked some stirs in the audience as did a floor-length felt coat trimmed with fox fur.
