Clad in elbow-length suede gloves, pearls, draped dresses in icy tones, and delicate scarves resting atop up-dos, the all-star model lineup of Donna Karan‘s fall show had unmistakable airs of Grace Kelly about them as they floated through the Chelsea space.
In the show notes, Karan writes that this season she has designed for a modern, elegant, and sophisticated woman who commands a room. The collection is no doubt glamorous and luxe with alligator and shearling satchels and fabrics embroidered in sequins, jewels, or pearls, but leave it to Donna to make it all look comfortable too. For her dresses and skirts she used mostly jersey or stretch materials, and her plush peach-skinned and wool felt coats as the designer writes, “have the textured embrace of a shimmering bathrobe.” Yes, please.
We won’t be surprised if we see several of the final looks on some A-list celebs come Oscar night. Irredescent silk chiffon, embroidered tulle, and viscose satin practically scream best-dressed.
