Exclusive: Here Are the 24 Bloggers Tumblr Is Sending to New York Fashion Week

It was just over a month ago we told you Tumblr–the image-heavy platform that high profile luxury labels, fashion writers, fashion photogs, and fashion enthusiasts alike have become taken with–was sending over 20 of its users to New York Fashion Week.
Now we’ve got the list of bloggers and more deets about what they’ll be doing this coming week. It’s no surprise that Jessica Quirk (nee Schroeder) of What I Wore and Textbook‘s John Jannuzzi are two of the chosen 24. But maybe it’s a bit more surprising that Tumblr is flying in Party Tights‘ Ella Wood, a 16-year-old who Tumbls from Devon, England.
And if you were doubtful that Tumblr’s 24-strong fleet would have access to shows, they’re all set to attend Oscar de la Renta’s show on February 16, as well as get some one on one face time with Mr. de la Renta himself this Friday before his show. Erika Bearman, the brand’s director of communications (better known as @oscarprgirl), will also treat the Tumblr 24 to a tour of Oscar de la Renta’s studio.

I’m just going to take a wild guess here and say everyone is mostly white? More curious than making a point. Tongue is in cheek.
It’s tumblr, these are bloggers, not media personalities. Most people don’t even post pictures of themselves to their tumblrs. I don’t think this is the post to talk about fashion being full of white people (which is a very valid conversation.) Practically any other post would be more appropriate.
Two people who I definitely think should have made the cut were http://tallgirltales.tumblr.com/ and http://blog.jaclynday.com/. Both of them are very talented and post a ton of original content. Maybe next season…
considering both for fall.
Also http://Styleta-washu.tumblr.com reaches a wide audience among college students, as Styleta is a nationally recongized organization, featured in Teen Vogue, Time, and soon Glamour!

I dont understand, I just clicked on one of these chosen blogs and all I saw were pictures of….. horses, the ocean, books, mountains, Paris, fireworks, elephants, a man screwing in a light bulb, * im scrolling through the blog as I write this, now I see trees, more mountains, feet, finally came across a dress, some strange looking car in a lake, a rabbit, balloons, houses, a cat jumping between 2 rooftops, a plain white tank top.
Can somebody explain to me how is this a fashion blog? why would a blog like this get chosen? There’s another blog that was chosen that also posts similar content

Unfortunately, that could be a little awkward if the blog titles were ever to be read aloud in any professional setting, at fashion week or in the selection process. Everybody always has a conservative old guy to answer to, somewhere.

coketalk.tumblr.com and her spinoff, whoretalk.tumblr.com are two my favorite blog. She talks about fashion all the time, while always laying down the “real talk.” No promotion, no gushing, no unicorns.

I used to post original content, but tumblr folks aren’t into that. I now do a mix and use my blog to write about fashion!
It is sad. It’s hard to find good fashion content with black people in it. It’s always really tribal or “urban.” Hopefully if I make it as a fashion writer or editor, I’ll have the opportunity to change that!

Also, why are so many of these girls calling themselves whores? Is it because they shill for merchandise? Is it because they can’t make a living off of “blogging” so they are real life prostitutes? The world may never know.

I post a lot of original content and yes, Tumblr is not a big fan of orginal contents… I don’t know if that’s positive or not as it gives a sense of distinctiveness from other blogging styles. I just want to say congratulations to everyone who got chosen… though I would love to see more bloggers who blog about male fashion.

Reblogging is integral to the platform, it’s not like people aren’t being original for using it as it was designed. When I made my “tumblr cloud” I was actually surprised to see I have way more original posts than reblogs. Wouldn’t have guessed.

Tricia Gosingtian (triciawillgoplaces.tumblr.com) is the best pick among the chosen bloggers! She doesn’t just post random photos or reblog stuff like others do. She posts photos that she took herself, shows her own great sense of style and inspires youth to be real and to follow their dreams. I think that’s the real essence of a fashionista blogger.
