Unlike Steff, I'm not a model girl. I have my faves, but I'm not on Ford's website every weekend searching for the latest faces on the board.
But I am a huge fan of Hannah Holman. We chose her as one of our favorite models to watch about a year ago, and soon enough she landed in campaigns for Alexander Wang and Marc by Marc Jacobs. And she's got a supporter in Katie Grand, which always means good things.
So I stole Cheryl's beat for the morning and headed over to The Empire Hotel, where Hannah hosted a breakfast for Marc Jacobs' new Daisy Eau So Fresh. She's the face of the gorgeous campaign, which was shot by Jurgen Teller in Spain on a bed of daisies--and a white horse--and she answered all of our questions about the shoot, her latest projects, and why she is happy to be backing a scent she actually likes:
- It's easy for her to be the face of this fragrance. "Daisy was my first ever perfume--I bought it when I was in high school, so it's funny," the model said of Eau So Fresh's sister scent. (In perfume speak, Eau So Fresh--a mix of grapefruit, jasmine, and musk--is a flanker. It's supposed to complement the original scent, not upstage it. But truthfully, we prefer this over the original Daisy.)
- She's got grand plans. "I really like designing jewelry," she said. "I'm designing a piece of jewelry for Katie Hillier, and want to eventually launch my own line." Hannah's brother also designs jewelry.
- Even models aren't perfect. "It's hard to cast me in runway shows, because I'm petite [read: because she's not built like a hanger], but I always do Katie's shows."
- Her personal style shines through. "I went shopping with a stylist friend of mine the other day, and she said, 'Who do you want to dress like?' I said, 'I want to dress like me!'" Today, she was wearing a lacy Marc by Marc dress topped by a deconstructed Elise Overland leather jacket.
Hannah was sweet enough to stick around for a while after the event just to chat. It's so nice to meet well-adjusted, interesting people who love what they do. Oh and by the way, the perfume really does smell good. We promise.
