Moschino Fall 2011: The Bon Ton

Friday, Feb 25, 2011 / 7:25 AM

MILAN–The theme of Moschino‘s show this morning was “the fashionable crowd,” and from the looks of the label’s invitation–a pink flip book featuring a silhouette of a girl overrun by roses–I predicted the collection was bound to be overtly feminine and flower-y. Feminine, it was–full of flowers, it was not.

Instead, it was a mix of old fashioned menswear adapted for a curvy woman–tuxedos, riding pants, top hats–along with classic skirt suits, slinky satin dresses, and a ruffled shift or two, certainly designed with fan Michelle Obama in mind.

Was it a fun collection, as the tongue-in-chic Moschino brand is supposed to be? Sometimes. The good news is that there was enough compelling stuff in there to keep its devoted customers happy.
