Mulberry Fall 2011: Mr. Fox-y Ladies

Sunday, Feb 20, 2011 / 5:46 PM

LONDON–The Claridges ballroom was filled to the brim this morning with editors taking in Mulberry‘s charming-as-usual Fall 2011 show. We were seated in sections delegated by animal–the owl, the porcupine, the bunny–and kitted out with stickers, a fox mask, and a new Mulberry tote bag. Waiters were passing out mini cakes and purple soda. It was kind of like being at a very fancy film showing.

Also like a film premiere, there were plenty of starlets in the audience, including Kirsten Dunst, Gemma Arterton, Rebecca Hall, Clemence Poesy, Rosamund Pike, and of course…Olivia Palermo.

Once the models hit the runway, voiceovers from The Fantastic Mr. Fox replaced the background music.

As for the looks themselves, they were quite cinematic as well. Like Marc by Marc Jacobs, they seemed inspired by Love Story, but with an added element of English refinement. While it’s obvious Mulberry’s cash cow is its handbags, we quite enjoyed the outerwear as well, in particular the corduroy toggle coat with matching skirt. Two sea foam green ensembles with matching satchels also looked fetching against the starry night backdrop.

We left the show and boarded the fashion bus, like a bunch of kiddies after a Sunday matinee.

There’s a typo in Atherton (who I love, and sorry to be pedantic). Sounds too cute for words and like a really good kids birthday party. Was the gift Mulberry bag nice? (could you pleeease post a pic?) Adds to the pleasant day dream!

No worries! It actually it Arterton–a weird last name, I know. Anyways, I tweeted a pic–it’s just a canvas tote, very cute!
