Why You Could Be Walking Down the Aisle In Vera Wang’s David’s Bridal Collection

Chances are David’s Bridal never crossed your lips–let alone your mind–as your wedding gown destination. Then came Vera Wang. The reigning queen of bridal chic has inked a deal the national purveyor of bridal bargains to debut White by Vera Wang. The designer, along with top David’s Bridal brass, unveiled the collection to a room full of reporters yesterday morning. If the formal presentation and genteel decor seemed a touch ornate at first, one glance at the collection justified it: the gowns were exquisite. From a pale pink confection crafted from what looked like acres of organza to an ethereal hand-cut bias organza gown, it was clear that Wang did not hold back creatively for this collection.

“Color, fabrics, textures, architecture, femininity–all are blended together in unexpected ways in every one of my designs,” the designer said in a statement about the line. “I want to bring freedom to weddings. There are no rules for me.”

Lack of rules for Wang also translates into lack of size restrictions for customers who will be able to purchase these gowns in a size 0 to 14, with plans to expand up to size 26 in the fall. What’s more remarkable that the huge size range is the relatively small price point for these gowns: between $600 to $1400 (compared to the thousands for a Vera Wang collection piece). The gowns are available at all 150 Davids Bridal Stores in the country and online at www.davidsbridal.com.
