In today’s WWD, the trade paper polled the buyers for the world’s major department stores for their thoughts on Paris Fashion Week. What were their favorite collections and what trends stood out?

McQueen, Lanvin, Celine, and Balenciaga was the resounding chorus. Several top buyers named Dior and Galliano among their favorite collections, which is interesting to note, because they’ll presumably be buying pieces from the collections for their stores. Colleen Sherin, the senior fashion director of Saks Fifth Avenue and Kelly Golden, owner of Neapolitan boutique in Winnetka, Illiois named Dior among their favorite collections and Tiziana Cardini, fashion director of Milan’s La Rinascente named Galliano.

So while we heard some editors boycotted the Galliano presentation, it seems his designs will not be retail poison.

Lanvin always rocks the house. And Louis Vuitton — totally in poor taste.

Very interesting report, Leah. I would be very interested to know how the last Galliano /Dior collection fares in retail sales compared to previous years
