We’ve long speculated exactly what Emmanuelle Alt’s Vogue Paris would be like… Edgier? Sportier? Tougher?
But now we have definitive proof that the adjective we’re looking for is softer. April’s cover features Gisele showcasing her sweeter side in a white Dolce & Gabbana dress. She wears almost no accessories, and looks like a natural beauty in the landscape of St. Barth’s.
This all goes along perfectly with Alt’s style–she has been quoted saying that she never wears makeup or exercises. What do you think of VP’s new-ish direction: lacking edge or naturally chic?

Naturally chic! Love this!
agreed. i thought that there will not be a drastic change from carine to alt but this is a 360. its romantic and soft. it is a throwback and aside from gisele’s pose, it is lacking edge and modern-ism.
iim a bit indifferent. its a quiet but strong statement in the shift of direction at vogue.
visit my blog jerrlife.blogspot.com everyone!
i agree, i did not expect this–but i like it!
180
lacks originality but it’s lovely. so glad it’s not edgy – soooo bored with all the edginess in fashion – time for something new!
I agree it is definitely different, we need to go back to basics
LIke the basic white “Bridget Jones” briefs and bra Gisele is wearing? The whole cover look is bogan. I don’t wish to say I told you so but Emmanuelle Alt just doesn’t cut it.
I kinda love it
Too old fashion, though I do not mean I want it edgy – just modern
It’s ok, but it doesn’t wow me. The reason Vogue Paris stood out from all of the other Vogues is that the covers always stood out and grabbed your attention. This does not. I’m not saying she needs to create shocking covers just ones that stop you in your tracks, not necessarily with every issue but more often that not. I hope Alt does a better job next time.
If people want a basic cover then all they have to do is pick up Vogue US.
it’s great, i love it
BORING!
Same dress as on the Cover of German Vogue
Beautiful… It seems that in trying to always be edgy, fashion actually lost it’s edge and became redundant. A cover like this marks a turn toward a simpler, softer side of the industry – allowing for the clothing as well as a woman’s natural beauty to be the star, rather than simply trying to push an envelope.

I like it’s fresh
Pretty but dull. This could be an Anna Wintour cover. Yawn.
I actually really like it but the underwear looks really tacky.
I totally agree. You can barely see the dress for the hideous underwear. I hate white under white – it’s so glaring! This is not edgy or modern, just awful.
I’m loving it. I like the feminine take and its great for a spring/summer issue. Looking forward for more to come from Alt.
It’s nothing exciting that’s for sure. Gisele sells covers, I get it. But can home girl maybe switch it up a little? I suggest she cuts her hair and maybe then she’ll excite me again.
