Whether it is accidental or deliberate, fashion imitates art. We stumbled across a South African blog, Miss Moss, that proves our theory.

The blogger juxtaposes street style snapshots and runway looks with paintings, costumes from period films, vintage design, and even pottery in an inventive series called “Color Comparisons” in which she creates side by side comparisons of Mary Katrantzou‘s creations with decorative oriental prints on ceramics.

Here are our top ten favorite pairings by Miss Moss.

Fresh idea – very interesting blog. The Mary Katrantzou dress featuring a china vase pattern was an obvious derivation (though lovely to see), most of the others were interesting for how Diana captured the mood, pose and colors of the photograph with a complementary work of art. Thanks for this story, Sarah.

Great post! I was looking forward and didn’t expect to see it so soon! Again, great, sound advice. Looking forward to read more under those new tabs you added!

Regards.
