There are about a gazillion (at last count) perfume and fragrance websites out there. OsMoz distinguishes itself by being one of the more organized and comprehensive ones. The site contains information about every brand ever conceived, news, an encyclopedia, a community forum, and a feed for other perfume blogs. These people are serious. A search for “vetiver” on the site gives you 1,400+ links. Seriously.
OsMoz just launched a free iPhone app for when you need to navigate the intimidating wilds of the perfume counter. The app includes a fragrance news room (you know, so you can keep up on what sort of new weirdness Lady Gaga is adding to her fragrance), and those articles are shareable. A fragrance database is included and gives you information about every scent on the market (and is presumably more objective than us when it describes celeb fragrances).
The coolest feature is the barcode scanner, which allows you to scan the barcode on a box. A full profile of that perfume will pop up on your phone, including reviews, history, notes, etc. Not sure if what you’re smelling is blood orange or bergamot in that dry down? Well, now you’ll know. Finally, there’s a spot finder feature; just enter your zip code and nearby fragrance retailers will be listed.
Now all Apple has to do is upgrade its next iPhone with atomizers so you can get the experience without ever leaving home. In the meantime, if you’re a juice junkie, this app may be right up your alley.
