We’re constantly being bombarded with new lotions and potions that claim to cure our skin woes. But now companies are attempting to replicate the treatments that dermatologists perform in their offices via at-home gadgets. Handheld devices like the LightStim and PaloVia were released this past year and use red light emitting diode (LED) technology to stimulate collagen turn-over, which makes wrinkles look less prominent.

I’ve interviewed dermatologists about this technology in the past; red lights have been shown to decrease wrinkles in clinical studies and derms use them for everything from fine lines to acne, but the jury is still out on how effective at-home treatments are.

Zeno, a company which offers red light hand-held devices–the Hot Spot and Heat Treat–for the treatment of acne, just released the Line Rewind. The Line Rewind is a small hand-held gizmo that uses red light, heat, vibration, and a serum to tackle fine lines and wrinkles.

Will Hedi Slimane design again? Will he replace Stefano Pilati at YSL? Or could he replace Galliano at Dior?

These are a few of the questions and rumors that have swirled around Slimane over the past few months. In two articles out today to promote a four-volume box set of his photography called Anthology of a Decade out this month–one in Menswear and one in the UK’s Guardian–Slimane sheds a bit of light on the rumors.

“I’m going to design again, but I come back when it’s the right project, so I keep my passion for it intact,” Slimane told the Guardian. Slimane left Dior Homme in 2007 to pursue fine arts like photography and sculpture, but not before leaving an indelible mark on menswear–the skinny androgynous rocker look–that’s still pervasive on the streets today.

The Guardian interviewed Slimane just days prior to Galliano’s arrest, after which, Slimane’s name was floated as a replacement at Dior. When asked about designing for luxury houses, Slimane replied:

AUSTIN – Day two of South by Southwest’s Style X has come and gone, leaving fashion lovers longing for more of the up-and-coming talent spotlighted this week. The style showcase’s second, and last, day was jam packed with shopping, panel discussions, and another runway show featuring festival musicians strutting their stuff in designers’ looks.

Opening the day was American Apparel’s hotly anticipated Factory Flea Market, where shoppers got to scour discounted and discontinued merchandise from the Los Angeles-based retailer. The event has added Austin to its list of targeted cities for the third year in a row, bringing more than 20,000 reduced-price garments to Style X and SXSW attendees. Lines were long and jackpot items were scarce, but finding that perfect pair of high-waisted pleat-front trousers at 50% off was well worth the effort.

While SXSW is known for its fair share of celebrity cameos, Style X hosted a few familiar faces of its own with a series of insightful panel discussions on various fashion-related topics. Chloe Dao, Project Runway season two winner and owner of Houston boutique Lot 8, Moe Boualaphanh of Marilyn Modeling Agency, and other industry figures hosted a conversation on fashion vs. style and the ever-present issue of how to break into the industry.

AUSTIN–Style setters were out in full-force at South by Southwest this week, as the festival premiered its newest fashion-focused endeavor, Style X (pronounced, “Style By”). With tons of designer showcases and a runway show chock-full of SXSW musicians-turned-models, Style X is certainly living up to its reputation as the first event bridging the gap between fashion and music, with a sharp focus on emerging talent.

Style X kicked off Wednesday night with an introductory “Shop Hop” that allowed participating designers, boutique owners and media outlets to mix, mingle, and get a feel for the impressive talent gathering in the Lone Star State this week.

Diane von Furstenberg‘s daughter Tatiana is a writer/director in Hollywood. You’ve probably heard more about von Furstenberg’s other child, Alex, who gained Page Six-style notoriety when he flew a plane with a banner that said “Reggie Miller Stop Pursuing Married Women” over the coast of Southern California a few years ago after his fiance was caught in a sexting scandal with Reggie Miller. But I digress. Tatiana von Furstenberg wrote and directed this movie called Tanner Hall starring Rooney Mara before she was cast in Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

According to “Rambling Reporter” Merle Ginsberg at the The Hollywood Reporter (subscription required), mama von Fusternberg helped out with the costumes for the film, which is described by IMDB as “a vivid peek into the private world of an all-girls boarding school.” Which sounds kind of awesome. von Furstenberg recently launched a home decor line, just handed out some awards for her second annual DVF Awards to honor female humanitarians, heads up the CFDA and, you know, designs some clothes. And now movie costumes? We’re tired thinking about all of it.

Not only do I love Who What Wear for its daily dose of celebrity style and fashion inspiration, I also love the site’s founders Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power, because they’re not only nice and adorable, but also inspiring. These two former magazine editors have taken a topic no one else really does well–celebrity fashion–and made it into something cool, but still accessible.

So I was thrilled to hear that the duo was launching their second book, What to Wear Where: The How-to Handbook for Any Style Situation. I’ve always been a fan of their instructive videos explaining how to wear a certain look, whether it’s a pleated skirt or high-waisted bell bottoms. (Just because I’m a fashion writer doesn’t mean I’m a stylist!) The book is fantastic because it gives you outfit options for pretty much every situation, from a first date to your high school reunion. Even if you fancy yourself a super stylist, it’s a good place to get ideas.

There’s been a dearth lately of Jersey Shore fashion products. For a while there it seemed like every week brought news of a new line of underwear or slippers or hair extensions from one of the cast members. But where’s the Snooki merch now? What’s happening to Filthy Couture?

Thank goodness, then, for Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, who just launched a limited edition collection of jewelry for RichRocks. It’s no surprise to see Sammi making a foray into the world of fashion–she said as much a few months ago. But, she told Gurl.com “I’d love to get into fashion and designing hair extensions and hair products.” Who can say what inspired the Jersey Shore hair goddess to get into bling over hair extensions. All we know is that Sammi’s line of blinged out very literal sweetheart-shaped jewelry is here.

Take a look. Nothing’s over $40.
