We’ve said it before ad we’ll say it again: Fabricly is becoming to young designers what record labels are to unsigned artists: a haven to produce and make a profit. The e-commerce site launched in December with a goal to help young designers transform their ideas into full-blown fashion lines.

First up on their roster? Molly Girard Coonan.

The New Mexico native, who earned her degree in France and interned at Givenchy, has been tapped by the brand to create a collection which she’s named Mono Lake. Enamored by her line, full of fun fringed tees and athle-chic shorts and rompers, we tracked down Coonan for a quick chit chat….

Are You Impressed By This Unretouched Makeup Ad?

Tuesday, Mar 15, 2011 / 10:30 AM

Yesterday Huff Po posted this ad for Makeup Forever’s HD High Definition foundation. The copy on the ad: “You’re looking at the first unretouched makeup ad.”

As a person who spends her life analyzing makeup and snake oil, this one threw me for a loop. My first reaction was, “Ooh, groundbreaking!” immediately followed by, “Hey, wait, they’re selling me a product to hide all my ‘imperfections’” to “Hmm, I’d like to try this.” And I don’t even wear foundation. Then I started picking apart the model to look for all HER imperfections. This is all very messed up.

Yesterday Lancôme officially announced that Emma Watson would be their newest ambassadress. Paparazzi shots of her campaign as it was being shot by Mario Testino in Paris surfaced last night. From the looks of the shoot, Lancôme is bringing out Watson’s tougher side, giving her strong red lips and dark smokey eyes, slicking down her short pixie hair, and putting a cropped leather biker over her soft blush dress.

Fashion Bomb Daily got her hands on Rihanna’s April Vogue editorial, shot by Annie Leibovitz. The good thing about Rihanna is that she’s so beautiful, and her skin is so smooth, that she doesn’t really need any photoshopping. Nike 6.0 sponsored a trip for some editors to go to Windham Mountain to preview the brand’s Action Sports collection, then to try it on the slopes firsthand. We were greeted at an enormous mountainside log mansion, complete with antler chandeliers and masses of soft, curly shearling pillows strewn everywhere. After settling in with some coffee and snacks, we were introduced to three of Nike’s Action Sports athletes.

Our favorite collections of Fall 2011, arranged in alphabetical order. Did your pick make the cut?

Anything look off about this Victoria’s Secret model’s legs to you? We know models are supposed to be skinny and all but her legs look like arms. Really skinny photoshopped arms. (Victoria’s Secret via The Gloss)

Innovations in retail are few and far between. In 2007, I remember hearing about Gilt Groupe and thinking, “this is going to change the way people shop.” Over the last four years, the flash sales site has certainly altered our idea of a discount.

But I’d argue that Moda Operandi–a new platform that allows users to buy pieces right off the runway–is equally as innovative, if not more so.

Daphne Strikes Back: Daphne Guinness has taken to Twitter to deny the quotes attributed to her in the UK’s Sunday Times Magazine in which she reportedly called Victoria Beckham an “ugly pig” who “annoys the shit” out of her. “I feel like killing myself, I have been stabbed in the back by that journalist…I am so sad stitched up by the sunday times. I thought c. long was a friend. I would never call anyone an ugly cow, not my words,” she tweeted. “And for the record I not only admire Victoria Beckham but know her and like her. My point was that I do most things alone without a backer.” {@TheRealDaphne}
