There’s been lots of moving around at fashion houses as of late, and this week is no different. First, Pringle announced that it’s bringing on Balenciaga alum Alistair Carr as its new design director.
Carr, who most recently worked directly under Nicolas Ghesquiere, has also done time at Marni, Cacharel, and Chloe. This is a big get for Pringle, and a chance for Carr to make a real name for himself beyond the industry’s core. (He is also a mentor/friend of Fred Butler’s; you can learn quite a bit about him on her blog.) Indeed, Pringle just became a hot London Fashion Week ticket.
Stateside, Sigerson Morrison founders Kari Sigerson and Miranda Morrison have announced that they’re leaving the company.

Jimmy Choo wants to buy back Jimmy Choo.
In case you haven’t heard, Jimmy Choo, the shoe designer, doesn’t actually own or design for his namesake label. In fact, he hasn’t been involved since 2000. UK private equity firm, TowerBrook, owns the majority of the company. (The other big shareholder is co-founder/chief creative officer Tamara Mellon, who owns 15% of the business.) TowerBrook is keen on selling. LVMH, Valentino, and a few private equity firms have been whispered as potential buyers.
But now Mr. Choo, the original designer and inspiration behind the brand, wants his label back. According to The Daily Mail, Choo has hired adviser Daniel Stewart to help him move forward with a £500 million offer for the company. (Choo will need investors to back his bid. Stewart will help him find the right ones.)
Does he have a chance?

Is Tavi Gevinson Renouncing Fashion?
In Tavi Gevinson‘s latest blog post she reflects on her last fashion week experience, the fashion fatigue she experienced (she couldn’t muster to strike up a conversation with Anna Wintour when she found herself seated next to the Vogue editrix at the Band of Outsiders show), and how New York fashion week felt “very high schooly” (this from the 14-year-old who is barely in high school).
She concludes her meandering, honest and rather poignant reflection by announcing that “my blog is turning away from fashion a little, naturally.” She continues, “How depressing would it be if I was that obsessed with only fashion for three years? That’s how old my blog will be in a few days. Strange.”
In between recounting sitting next to Anna Wintour (she describes the experience as unavoidably intimidating “even if you feel, as I did, like one of the only people in the room who isn’t after her job”) and her final pronouncement that her blog would shift away from its’ fashion focus, there’s a bit more about how she got to that place (beyond fashion’s “highschooliness” which is totally accurate about the industry):

The Dior Addict Lipsticks Are Finally Here
After a lot of hype, teasers, and commercials, the Dior Addict Lipsticks are finally available. There are 44 shades to choose from, and Dior’s divided them up into three styles: Rock Icon, Glam Icon, and Doll Icon. There’s a wide range of colors, from bare neutrals to dark plums and everything in between.
The big news with this line is the texture of the lipsticks. They contain 25% less wax than classic lipsticks, and more gel; the result is a lipstick/balm/gloss hybrid with vibrant color. It feels really moist when you apply, but not sticky like a gloss. The color is pretty true to what you see in the tube, perhaps just a little more sheer.

In the last month, five former American Apparel employees have come forward claiming sexual harassment against the company’s founder Dov Charney. 20-year-old Irene Morales filed suit in early March, seeking $260 million in damages. On Wednesday, the New York Times reported that a second sexual harassment suit was being brought against Charney on behalf of four former American Apparel employees: Kimbra Lo, Alyssa Ferguson, Marissa Wilson and Tesa Lubans-Dehaven. The same lawyer, Eric Baum, is representing all five girls in both suits.
Today we spoke to a source who knows Lo, as well as several of the other women. According the source, Lo worked for the company for seven months and left in May 2010. The source calls these group of women “estranged groupies” who are using this as a “way to get rich quick. They all know Dov, whether platonically, or not. Or in the case of Irene, she was practically stalking him.” When asked why these women might want to do such a thing, the source said. “It’s a way to get rich quick. Kimbra has a history of getting involved with high profile men, and this is her cash-out.”
Another source remarked, “All made threats of some sort not only to Charney but to other American Apparel employees like the photographers, etc. that if they didn’t get more money and attention, they would go public with a fake lawsuit. As of now, they have no evidence. This is a civil matter, not a criminal case, which is what people don’t understand. They won’t get a dime.”
It seems other folks are out to leak their own “smoking gun” photos and bits of gossip. We’ve been bombarded by anonymous tipsters leaking information about Kimbra Lo’s personal life and now extremely NSFW emails alleged to be from Irene Morales to to Dov Charney have appeared on two blogs–kimbralo.blogspot.com and alyssaferguson.blogspot.com. More photos of Lo with Olivier Zahm are featured on these blogs, as well as Lo’s alleged spread for hipster porn mag Jacques. Gawker received similar tips, including additional emails alleged to be from Morales to Charney, one of which is a list of American Apparel birthday items she wants, dangling this as bait: “do it for all those delicious blowjobs I would give you, and how I would lick your little asshole clean!!! And how I would love to do it again when I see you!”
