Reese Witherspoon–who is reportedly marrying beau Jim Toth this weekend in a Monique Lhuillier gown–has been busy lately shooting Water For Elephants and her May US Vogue cover. She can now add a new fragrance launch to her hectic schedule. Actually, it’s three fragrances.

Vanessa Traina launched her seven-piece capsule collection for Maje, the super chic French contemporary brand, on the seventh floor Barneys last night amidst a very cool fashiony crowd that included Traina’s buddies Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Joseph Altuzarra, Alexander Wang and the Proenza Schouler boys.

Traina’s collection–which is comprised of a beautifully tailored tuxedo blazer and some insanely sexy black silk and lace underthings–is presumably meant to drum up buzz and interest in Maje’s long overdue launch in the US. Vanessa Traina is even tweeting for the first time under the handle @MajeUSA, the label’s first account in English. The label sells pieces at stores in the states but has yet to open a Maje boutique stateside.

Luckily–and I do mean luckily because Maje is full of perfectly French chic and sexy dresses and separates and I spent too much money there while I was in Paris–New Yorkers can shop Maje very soon (it’s about time Maje joined all the other French outposts setting up shop in New York). “We’re opening in the end of September on Bleecker street near the Marc store,” Maje founder and creative director Judith Milgrom told me last night. “I hope all American girls like Maje.”

Hard to believe that we were shocked by makeup for eight-year-olds and titillating Vogue Enfants spreads. In a story that we sincerely hope is a load of BS (it was featured in UK tab The Sun), a mother in the UK proudly admits to giving her eight-year-old daughter, Britney, Botox injections to increase her chances of becoming a star. Britney is apparently active on the child pageant scene.

Kerry (no last name mentioned) is a “beautician” in the UK who buys Botox and other fillers from friends and the internet, then injects her daughter’s face with them every three months. Oh, but she tests them all on herself first, so it’s perfectly safe.

Mom told The Sun: “I know one day she will be a model, actress, or singer, and having these treatments now will ensure she stays looking younger and baby-faced for longer.” If you haven’t yet passed out from shock, she then said this:

New York will be seeing a lot more of Carine Roitfeld in the coming months. She’ll be front row at New York fashion week for the spring shows, and buzzing about an iconic New York department store. The former Paris Vogue editor has teamed up with Barneys New York to serve as guest editor and stylist for the luxury retailer’s fall ad campaign, catalogue and mailers. She’ll also have a hand in styling Barney’s windows, to be revealed in September.

“It’s a new kind of project for me,” Roitfeld told WWD. “It’s good to have a new life, because now I can do projects that I never dreamed of before.”

She continued, “For me…to be able to participate in this project with [Barney's], and be visible during the next fashion week in New York, is my dream come true…to a French girl, it’s a big, big dream.”

Roitfeld’s project with Barney’s has many components.

The tsunami and earthquakes in Japan continue to affect the country’s people. Most recently, residents were advised not to let their children drink from the tap due to radiation in the water. It’s difficult to help when you’re this far away, but it’s not impossible.

Along with donating directly to organizations like the Red Cross and UNICEF, there are other ways you can help. Plenty of designers and brands have issued special edition items for which the proceeds will benefit Japan. Click through to see some of the best.

Last November, designers Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce were indicted for tax evasion. They each allegedly failed to pay taxes on about $569 million worth of income over the last few years.

Thank you Vice, for introducing us to Jammie Nicholas, the British artist who expresses himself by creating perfume made from his own poo. He sells his stink for £40 (that’s $65) a bottle, and to date he’s sold 25 of the 85 bottles he’s created. He calls it “Surplus,” tagline “Made from the Excesses of the Body.”

So how did Nicholas come up with the idea? Read more »

The CFDA just announced that Lady Gaga would receive this year’s “Style Icon” award. Sure, her style is provocative, daring, and she certainly deserves the award. But was she the first to push fashion over the top in that headline grabbing way? Of course not. Before her there was Madonna, and before Madonna there was Cher and before Cher there was Elizabeth Taylor. The screen legend is known for many things: her acting chops, her incredible beauty, her seven husbands, her struggle with addiction, oh, and her incredible style. As a young ingenue she adhered to ’50s style–perfect for flaunting her curvy figure. But as she got older her style got bolder. Here, a look though at some of this original style icon’s most outrageously awesome fashion statements.

Melissa shoes is a company that makes plastic only shoes. Not in the “granola munching” way, but rather the “collaborated with Vivienne Westwood and Zaha Hadid” way.

But Melissa’s latest collab is a bit more mass market–it’s with Barbie! In the Brazilian label’s magazine, which stars Katy Perry (who else?), Barbie herself is styled in wild fashions while wearing Melissa’s signature plastic shoe. I suppose it must be a nice change from her everyday pink plastic heels.

Check out Barbie’s turn as a model after the jump.
