Three Organic And Natural Skin Care Brands To Try

Beecology: Yup, honey shows up in all the products. Beecology is a family-owned company in Ohio whose products are all formaldehyde, polyethylene glycol, and paraben free. To up the ante even further, they donate 10% of net profits to environmental and social causes–they even let you choose which charity you’d like to allocate the money to, via SweetYear.

Beecology has a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, soaps, body washes, a hand & body cream, and a lip balm. The prices are super-reasonable; they range from $2.99 for the lip balm to $12.99 for the shampoo.

Good: The bee on the label is adorable, if not so sophisticated. The body washes smell fresh and herbal. The shampoo is pretty gentle–my hair didn’t feel stripped. The lip balm has a minty zing reminiscent of my beloved Carmex but without the weird aftertaste. Oh, and on their website they’re giving away two tickets to see Duran Duran in concert AND go backstage.

Needs Improvement: The shea butter-based hand and body lotion has a perfect rich texture, but the smell left something to be desired. They advertise that it has very little fragrance, but honestly…it could use a little lavender or something.
