Hedi Slimane
Rumors have been swirling that Slimane would make a return to fashion, this time designing for women. His history at the house is a good argument for bringing him back, his inexperience designing women’s fashion is not.

I’m bummed out about Galliano because he was so talented, but really, you can’t go around doing this sort of thing. Can’t wait to see who gets the job!
I completely agree with Alber Elbaz, Marc is a No-No. Alberta Ferretti would make a good fit. I would love if Christian Lacroix came on to design the Haute Couture. But I would LOVE if they used a lesser known designer and create a new star.
I think Alber is the best bet.
Elbaz wants Chanel, he won’t do Dior.
THEYSKENS!
I get it, he’s terrible for making anti Semitic remarks, but what the hell is going on with his hat? Very disheartening…read more @imeanwhat http://bit.ly/hNh87R
Your list is not at all realistic. Where is Giambattista Valli? He is clearly one of the most suitable successors? Or if they want to choose someone smaller, Alexis Mabille, who worked at Dior before going out on his own. Certainly not the Marchesa girls or Dries. Marc Jacobs is also not a contender, he is nearing the end of his career.
Giambattista Valli… YES, YES, YES!!!!!
Uh, what? Marc is like 40, one of the most popular designers in the world and arguably the zenith of his career has been these past few years.
I was all cheers before you got to the “m j is nearing the end of his career” bit. what?!
Ok, I phrased that wrong. MJ is at the end of his career in terms of his ability to renew a brand. He does a great job for himself, and for LV, but I don’t think he has the “innovative energy” to take over at Dior. Dior needs someone strong and who is going to be very dedicated. They also need some sort of fresh blood. MJ has his own brands, lots of them, and I don’t think he has the ability to do a good job at Dior. He is also slightly overexposed. It would be boring for him to go there, boring for the customer, the industry, and for him.

I’d love Lacroix to do it
Headscratchers here are Jacobs and Marchesa. Marc is a quirky designer and if you think heads rolled with Ford at YSL. Marc at Dior would cause a runway catastophe that would make PETA shiver in their organic seperates
I can’t imagine the man who “invented grunge” would have couture aspirations, even if it would be an impossible job to turn down.
how are grunge (the aesthetic, not the culture) and couture mutually exclusive? i don’t think they are…
Respectfully, this doesn’t even make sense! Grunge and couture are not mutually exclusive? They have NOTHING to do with one another!!!!!
THE RODARTE GIRLS, NO. NOT FANCY ENOUGH.
MARC JACOBS, NO. TOO QUIRKY AND KID-LIKE FOR THIS LABEL.
THE MARCHESA GIRLS, NO. NOT INNOVATIVE ENOUGH. WOULD DO THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
OLIVIER THEYSKENS!!!!!!! A GENIUS!!!!!
There’s about a hundred reasons why Marc wouldn’t be right for Dior, but is his quirkiness one of them? Is he not leaps and bounds less “quirky” than the exiting designer?
Not that I picture it happening, but I would love to see what he could do for Dior handbags.

My comment was deleted?!?!?!?!?!?!
I want Erdem, but I know he has very limited experience, especially in accessories, and is completely unrealistic for Dior. But… the florals!
Marc would be great at Dior. His aesthetic has matured so much in his past seasons, but he’s still managed to inject some humour and quirkiness into both his brands. When you look back at this season’s collection for Marc Jacobs, imagine what he could do in an even more creative and dramatic field like couture.
Plus, did you miss Dior Couture F/W10? Those kind of refined theatrics are completely within Marc’s realm of capability.
I love Marc. I am constantly amazed by his versatility, I don’t see how anyone who follows him season to season couldn’t be. I can especially see him fitting, creatively, into the mix at Dior. I think their accessories are at about 25% of the potential (I don’t know anyone who has ever bought, or expressly coveted a Dior bag) so I would be especially excited to see what someone like Marc could do in that department.
I don’t see, though, that he would want to move so far away from realistically wearable clothing (even though people do buy and wear Dior, both RTW and HC) since he has always been so focused on the “downtown” girl. I would also suspect that a great many of the existing Dior HC clients would not be counted among Marc’s fans. It just seems like a different crowd.
On another note, I am not sure Arnault would want to add more flame to this media fire by removing Marc from Vuitton and installing him at Dior. Can you imagine how polarizing and sensational that would be in the press? Still, it would excite me tremendously.
Respectfully, no way Marc! He’s not grand enough for this delicate brand. He’s a bit too vulgar and not cerebral enough.
YES! what about Olivier?!
Alber is about to celebrate his 10 years at Lanvin and won’t leave now…
i don’t think the Rodarte girls could make clothes sell, despite their talent…but OLIVIER! i can’t think of a better fit…he can surely juggle this and theory…

Olivier is definitely, definitely in a very tight contract with Theory.
ALBER! I never really liked Galliano’s work at Dior; I still think of Dior in terms of it’s earlier legacy, and in that regard I think Alber Elbaz would be amazing. Classy, beautiful and feminine, but not girly, with just enough innovation.
Alber, Hedi, Giambattista, Riccardo and Lacroix. Sorry, I sincerely doubt it will be an American, at least none of the ones that have been mentioned.
I think/hope the main people in the running are Olivier, Haider, Giambattista, and Riccardo, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Erdem and Lacroix. The other names mentioned are too well-known for the other brands they represent.
I’m really hoping Dior decides to take a chance on a newcomer and not a well-established designer. Although Lacroix was well established, the financial troubles he went through has put him on the back burner and this could be his chance to reposition himself as a big wig.
I want Lacroix, however I don’t think he will be picked or even considered. I’m hoping for Theyskens. I like Alexis Mabille, but he’s not grand enough.
