i feel like that this story was a good idea that someone got too lazy to follow through with. First slide = interesting, chatty & funny…then just random pictures of perfume, socks and shoes? a teal dress? expecting a little more from fashionista, even for a not-so-serious story.
Me too or Yar as the Sloanes say. I remember the Hooray Henrys and their Carolines of the eighties when I lived in London. Maybe you should have enlisted the assistance of Mr Peter York who wrote so well about them (was it in Harpers & Queen or Tatler or maybe both).
I actually think this is a witty and clever take on a bit of esoteric slang most Americans would never learn on their own.
Taking fashion too seriously is as much a faux pas as the very worst white Anglo-trash matching tracksuit combo.
Diana used to refer (again, derogatorily) to the preppy Sloane girls AS “velvet hairbands”.
I always fancied her style to be somewhat more alternative and relaxed (before marriage.) I mean, remember that iconic picture where she’s wearing her engagement rock with two oversized men’s watches? What were hipsters called in the early 80s?
omg that was amazing
the 80s equivalent of the hipster was the yuppie
Does anyone know what her prom dress looked like?? Would love to have some royal inspiration!! Have you been to http://www.clairespromstyle.com yet? Tons of other ideas!
