Even though it’s only April–and currently 60 degrees and rainy here in NYC–it’s never too early to start thinking about beach beauty. One must be optimistic after such a craptastic winter.
So whether you’re heading somewhere tropical for spring break or just going to sit outside for brunch, you can start your sunny, warm weather preparation by picking up a tinted moisturizer with an SPF component. They pack a lot of punch for one product: moisture after a cold winter, a bit of color, and sun protection.

I have dry/combo skin, and the Josie Maran TM didn’t work for me. It was super heavy and hard to blend into the skin. It also accentuated any dry spots (and I had already used moisturizer underneath). My skin felt like it was being suffocated. It was too thick, too orange, and it broke me out. It has the heavier coverage of foundation, in my opinion. Such a shame, because I love her other products!
i just started using the laura mercier tinted moisturizer spf 20 and it seems to be working well..
I’ve been on the lookout for a good TM. This post is helpful, but it would be more helpful if it said which TM is good for what type of skin.
I’m surprised the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizers weren’t mentioned… aren’t they considered to be among the best?
