In honor of bridal fashion week, designer Lela Rose has been kind enough to answer your wedding day style questions.
Hi Lela!
My question: traditional etiquette dictates that simple, small jewelry is more elegant for a bride. I am wearing a strapless dress and no veil, so was thinking about dramatic earrings, but concerned that it’s not appropriate. What’s your view on bridal jewelry? What looks best with a simple strapless gown?
Lela says: I think that a dramatic earring that is still romantic, feminine and delicate is beautiful. You don’t want something that is going to be too specific or trendy that when you look back on your pictures you have any regrets. You want the earrings to compliment the dress, the feeling of the look you are going for without taking away from the dress or making too much of a statement. Simple and small is not always best–a balance is important.
