Nomia's Fall 2011 Look Book Perfects Pretty and Tough

For fall, Nomia designer Yara Flinn looked east for inspiration. Far east. Citing traditional Japanese armor as her jumping off point, Flinn created a collection that combines rigid construction with Flinn's signature easy draping and cuts.

The result is a group of terribly-chic dresses and separates that miraculously combine a tough girl aesthetic with pretty flourishes. Body-con dresses get a touch of chiffon, sleek tops meet draped skirts; it's a marriage of opposites, and a beautiful one at that.

For the first time in the history of the brand, prints were included in the collection. The "black mountain" print was designed by Flinn herself, inspired by traditional Japanese watercolors, and it fits in perfectly with Nomia's minimal style.
