Rachel Roy is one of the many designers and fashion industry insiders who have supported the talented fashion students at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

She has served as a mentor to the students at SCAD's Atlanta campus this year along with fellow designers Chris Benz and Christian Cota, and now she's been named honorary chair of the upcoming SCAD Seen Gala.

The gala is the premiere fundraiser for the Atlanta location, and will benefit the scholarship fund at the university. The event, held on May 24, will feature an auction of student, faculty, and alumni designed chairs, and an interactive showcase of students' fashion designs.

Roy launched her own line in 2004 and hopes that her partnership with SCAD will help students "learn that it is possible to work on your dream and work on your passion, and make a living at it.”
