We just got a tip from a very reliable source that W‘s revered fashion director Alex White resigned this afternoon. According to the source, White has left to focus on freelance projects.
If it’s true it’s shocking news, and a shame. White has been at W since 1994 and stuck around through all the recent changes at the high fashion glossy–namely the installment of Stefano Tonchi as EIC and she just launched the delightful blog Alex White Edits (though it hasn’t been updated since March 23).
We’ve reached out to W for confirmation and will update with any news. If you know anything write to us at tips@fashionista.com.

could this have anything to do with giovanna battaglia “styling” at W?
Actually, it was last updated March 23, 2011
^ You’re right. The blog, in fact, did not even start until the beginning of March. The last post includes pictures from Feb 1st, but the post itself was done on March 23rd…
thanks! i’ll update
Irrelevant to this, but since you are on right now Leah, do you think you could consider doing a piece on trade shows and what designers experience with them is? (with the Accessories Show and Moda coming up in May)
It would be extremely interesting to learn what has worked and what to avoid from experience.
Maybe some Q&A’s or something.
THANK YOU!
