Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie

Thank god for Princesses Bea and Eugenie, without them the wedding would have been just a little too proper. Both hats are by Philip Treacy, Eugenie’s in blue with a violet rose to match her Vivienne Westwood suit and Bea’s in a lovely shade of rose to match her Valentino coat.

I want a fascinator too!!!

Princess Letizia and Miriam Gonzalez were the best in my books. I wish this could happen every year like the Oscars.

In that case you would like the Melbourne Spring Racing festival which has a similar dress code to a Royal Wedding – hats being de rigeur. There is a very lucrative fashion competition run over the week with prizes including luxury cars, lavish travel and large amounts of cash. There is a men’s section – some really great hats and fashion looks there. Lots of people travel internationally to experience the incredible atmosphere (parties, 100,000 people at the biggest meeting, the Melbourne Cup – all wearing hats or fascinators and high profile celebrities).

Tara looks like a blue Teletubbie.

she wouldn’t look like one if she’d been sensible and taken the next size up – the lining of the top would have settled down inside the neckline, too.

Tara looks like a blue Teletubbie.

Queen Elizabeth looks like Big Bird.

She IS Big Bird.

what came first the queen chicken or the egg ( yolk) ? like a little yellow with your more & more yellow. ? curtsy when you say,” add an egg white when you scramble your outfit, your majesty”

I thought that Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice looked tragic, despite all the trouble and expense they went to. Mr Treacy has plummeted in my estimation from god-like genius to aesthetic abuser of two young girls who he has made the butt of jokes the word over.

I thought Beatrice’s was beautiful and daring! Nowhere near as amazing as her butterfly hat, however. Her outfit was pretty too.

Princess Eugenie’s whole look was a disaster, but that’s all being ignored because it was less of a risk than Beatrice’ choice.

Meanwhile, that butterfly hat….I NEED IT!!!!

I liked it too. Maybe Ben should try his hand at millinery. I could see that design working well at one of the big race meetings in Dubai, no probs!

Nice photoshop effect, let down a little by that not being the outfit she wore! I liked her soft dusty rose dress but the hat was ghastly and didn’t suit her at all. What is it about these girls (and their mother) that brings out the very worst in designers? It should have been easy to turn these two young ladies out in chic pretty ensembles that attracted praise, not groans.

*gasp*

I’m not understanding all of the hate on Princess Beatrice’s hat. I thought it was absolutely STUNNING and certainly one of my favorites at the wedding. I realize not everyone is so daring, but I thought hers was simply divine – and such a risk.

I’m glad you liked it – everywhere I went the other day I was overhearing conversations between women about how tragic it was. I thought it was hideous, so it is nice to hear some people appreciated it.

My only strong reactions on the morning of were to her outfit, Miriam Gonzales’ and Camilla’s. I will freely admit that I like Camilla and think she gets it right where the Queen often gets it wrong. I often wish she had worn what Camilla did. I’ve even seen it pointed out that the Queen’s style has changed to emulate Camilla. More often now she wears pearlescent light colors and ethereal woodsy fascinators, as opposed to primary colors and Willy Wonka headgear.

My wife is a fashion designer and she focusing on creating a hat, she definitely love this if she saw this hat.
