Anna Wintour is the latest in a slew of notable New Yorkers to record a video testimonial for the Human Rights Campaign’s “New Yorkers for Marriage Equality” campaign (Barbara Bush, Mario Bitali, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Sean Avery are among those who have also participated). In her testimonial, Wintour is, of course, short sweet and very to the point: “As far as I’m concerned, having the right to say ‘I Do’ is as fundamental as the right to vote,” she says. Amen, Anna. It’s nice to see her getting political for such a worthy cause–and one that’s so relevant to the fashion world.
“As the preeminent voice in the global fashion industry and a publishing icon, Anna Wintour represents the best of New York. She knows the difference between a passing fad and an enduring brand,” Human Rights Campaign Senior New York Strategist Brian Ellner said in a release. “Equality is part of the New York brand.”
