Last Night's Party: Tracy Anderson on Biceps, Butts and Why Gwyneth Once Lacked Rhythm

With this week's onslaught of gloomy drizzle putting our thrice-weekly power walks around Central Park on hold, it felt like a cruel joke when we learned that fitness guru Tracy Anderson would be co-hosting a cocktail fête at Juicy Couture's showroom. To paraphrase Tai Frasier, "our buns, they don't feel nothin' like steel." Anderson's behind the intimidatingly sculpted physiques of some of Hollywood's finest (Madonna and Gwyneth, anyone?) and the invite stated that she'd share her bikini-season tips with us not-so-athletic attendees. Amongst a slew of St. Tropez-inspired summer looks, from striped maxi dresses to broad-brimmed straw hats to charm bracelets and oversize sunglasses in cheery rainbow hues, we sipped low-cal drinks with The Glamourai's Kelly Framel, Runway Hippie's Sonia Evers, and a bunch of other fellow bloggers. The evening's tequila cocktail of choice, combining cayenne pepper and lime, sounded oddly Master Cleanse-esque at first, but proved refreshingly delish.

To paraphrase Tai Frasier, "our buns, they don't feel nothin' like steel."

Anderson's behind the intimidatingly sculpted physiques of some of Hollywood's finest (Madonna and Gwyneth, anyone?) and the invite stated that she'd share her bikini-season tips with us not-so-athletic attendees. Tracy strolled in a little after 7pm, all platform sandals, crazy-toned triceps, and bedazzled Juicy Couture tee."If I had my way, you'd all be in track pants on the ground in 10 minutes!" she laughed. Amidst the chorus of nervous giggles (ours), she settled instead for leading guests in an upper-arm workout inspired by her new Metamorphosis by Tracy method. Explaining the link between fashion and fitness, Anderson told us, "I design butts to look great in things like Juicy sweatpants!" She also shared some inside scoop about her own A-list clientele. "When Gwyneth first started, that girl couldn't dance worth a darn…and now she's one of the best students ever." Perhaps as an incentive, each of us left with our very own Metamorphosis program. Here's hoping it gets us looking as Country Strong as Anderson's #1 client.
