Michelle Smith was all smiles with her husband/Milly CEO Andrew Oshrin Thursday night as they celebrated the opening of the first U.S. Milly boutique on 73rd and Madison. As Milly fans packed in for glasses of champagne and bites of shrimp and chorizo, the couple behind the label looked completely at ease in their surroundings. That’s no surprise, since they say the outpost feels like a home away from home. “We live two blocks away,” explained Oshrin, “and my job for the past two months was to be here at eight or nine every morning and make sure the construction moved on time,” he added. While the shop is conveniently close to the couple’s home, they’re confident it’s also a prime location for the Milly consumer. “Even though we feel it’s sort of a destination store because it’s above 72nd street, we think it really reflects who the core Milly customer is,” he said.

Now that construction is finished, Smith and her husband were happy to show off the finished product as they welcomed party goers into the store. The designer wanted to evoke the feeling of her family’s apartment and picked out everything from the matte dove-grey paint, to the Lucite and polished brass fixtures, to the vintage Milo Baughman chairs. “These chairs were originally chrome. I redid them in bronze and reupholstered them in the signature Milly pink,” she said while pointing out the cheerful pop of color. The interior also boasts hints of French neoclassical architecture, a nod to her training in Paris. Smith notes her experience in couture at Hermes, Louis Vuitton, and Dior continues to influence the quality of her own label, as well as the boutique’s aesthetic.

So we’re excited to offer Fashionista readers a chance to win a piece from the Spring 2011 collection. Enter here by May 17, 2011 @ 12:00 pm EST–the winner can choose any item they like from the label’s spring offerings.

We like this stripey dress. And that egg shell jacket below. And pretty much everything else. In other words, we’re jealous that we can’t enter this contest. So win something good for us!

For this edition of Adventures in Copyright, a reader tipped us off to another one of those copies that just doesn’t make sense at all. Guess by Marciano, the contemporary, “fashion-forward” extension of Guess, Inc., made the “Blair Vintage Dress,” (right) whose description reads, “With embellishments inspired by our favorite styles of eras past, this vintage-inspired dress is a classic reinvented.” By “eras past,” they must mean a couple of years ago, when Rodarte made this exact same dress for Target (left).

We have a serious girl crush on Adriana Lima, and not just because she drew our name in a $500 Victoria’s Secret gift card raffle yesterday. (Although, yeah, that was awesome. But accidental. And I digress…)

At Thursday’s Victoria’s Secret Bombshell event in Soho, the Angel rocked a devilishly tight black mini and heavy kohl eyeliner for the 2pm gathering. Clearly the girl’s got a bit of goth side, and we dig it.

But while Adriana favors sexier designers like Dolce & Gabanna and sports “midnight black” nail polish all summer, she’s also got sweetness in spades.

Woody Allen + Dior?: Woody Allen’s new film Midnight in Paris is full of high-end French luxury brands, like Goyard and…Christian Dior? One can only assume that the goods were given to the film before the Galliano scandal, or that Allen can easily dissociate the designer from the brand, which should make Dior very happy. {PageSix}

As you’ve probably already noticed, nail art has become increasingly popular these days, thanks to increased visibility on celebs like Lindsay Lohan (remember her awesome tie-dye/”fuck u” courtroom nail art?) and Serena Williams, who has her own collaboration with OPI and blings out her nails in the best way possible (though it’s undeniable that Flo Jo is the OG athlete with the most extreme nail art).

Being a personal nail freak, myself (I may or may not own an 11lb case of polish), I always appreciate a crazy manicure. So I’ve rounded up the craziest awesome-est manicures I could find–done with everything ranging from tiny beads to gems to bit of ribbon, all lacquered down with bomb-resistant levels of polish.

Here, some of the best from New York to Singapore.

Rumors have been flying on Twitter for the past few hours that Nickelson Wooster, the impossibly dapper mustachioed men’s fashion director at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman has been fired. Sad but true: A spokesperson from Neiman Marcus has just confirmed to Fashionista that Nick Wooster is no longer with the company.

Neiman Marcus will not comment on his departure and it is not their policy to release any official statement about his exit. So until we get a release from wherever he shows up next–we’ll just have to cross our fingers and hope he lands somewhere worthy of his style and talent. If only so that the tumblr devoted to him and his style–fuckeyeahnickwooster–has a reason to go on.

The latest, and one can only hope last, news about the now-notorious Botox mom is that–gasp!–it was all a hoax for money.

Or was it?

Sheena Upton, which is allegedly her real name, claims in a sworn declaration that The Sun paid her $200 to pretend that she injected her daughter with Botox for a story. In a TMZ video, “Sheena” said that she was doing an acting job and that she was “pushed into it.” “Honestly, I don’t even know what Botox is,” she says. She also claimed her daughter was never in pageants.

Good Morning America, which had the duo on the show this week, is obviously annoyed that they were duped, so did some investigations of their own.
