SYDNEY–Camilla and Marc drew an eager crowd at the State Theatre last night in Sydney where they presented their spring 2011 collection. The ornate setting was a stark contrast to the fiercely modern collection, which included traffic-stopping brights, neoprene and prints galore.

The show had a far more playful feel than previous seasons, while still maintaining the elegance and tailoring the brand is known for. There were the signature party frocks they do so well, only these ones played with volume and colour in new ways. There were overblown, cascading ruffles down the front of an LBD, exaggerated peplum skirts, and red carpet-looks, perfect for any starlet with a bit of edge.

My Favorite Beauty Products: Ning Chao from Beautylish

Wednesday, May 4, 2011 / 3:30 PM

This past January Ning Chao made the jump from magazines to the web, where she is the beauty director at Beautylish. (Welcome to the jungle, Ning!) In the ten years prior to that she’s covered beauty for Marie Claire, InStyle, Elle, Vogue, and Glamour. Now she’s putting her expertise to work at Beautylish, a slick site devoted to all things beauty: there are product reviews, makeup tutorials, message boards, and a stellar news section (they scored an exclusive interview with Blake Lively’s hair colorist—it took ten hours to make her a redhead.)

Ning shared her current favorite beauty obsessions:

Name: Reb

How would you describe your style? It changes all the time and depends on my mood. I like girly things that remind me of my childhood.

What is the most prominent color in your wardrobe? Right now it’s pink. Which is shocking for me, but I’m loving rosy coral colors that remind me of old vintage photos and my grandma.

Nails always hog the beauty spotlight with their sparkles and zebra stripes. But lips are getting into the act now with some over-the-top products. Last week we introduced you to Morphine lip balm, for those times when you or your loved ones need numb lips. And now we present the next generation of lip adornment: Violent Lips. (Thanks, Racked, for finding these!)

They’re basically like the Sally Hansen nail strips, but for your mouth. The brand refers to them as “temporary tattoos” and they last four to eight hours; you remove them with baby oil. We suspect eating a messy plate of pasta is highly discouraged.

The come in crazy patterns like pink leopard (and tons of other animal prints), red fishnet, rainbow, and pink polka dot–which we need to try NOW. Glitter encrusted styles are coming soon. For $14.95 you get three applications per package.

Does Katy Perry know about these?

Lanvin Is Making Pricey Kids’ Clothes: Lanvin will introduce a 25-piece kid’s clothing line which will hit stores in late November. Unfortunately for Rachel Zoe and her baby boy, it’s for girls only (ages 4-10). The line will reflect Lanvin’s “ultrasophisticated approach”—meaning, ka-ching. {WWD, subscription required}

Lindsay Wore a See-Through Top Braless for her First Day of Community Service: She didn’t even bother to throw on an old pair of Ungaro pasties. Perfect outfit for the Women’s Center. {Egotastic}

Galliano Hired a New Lawyer: Aurélien Hamelle at Metzner Associés in Paris is Galliano’s new legal representative. The High Court in France will set his trial date on May 12. {WWD, subscription required}

Katy Perry Is Covering June’s Vanity Fair: She’s wearing red lips, bouncy hair, a champange gown, and spectacular decolletage on the cover. Read the interview–she discusses artichokes as a metaphor. {Vanity Fair}

We’ve been hankering for another big designer collaboration at Target, and today brings word that Missoni is next on the docket. The collection from the Italian design house will hit the racks at the big box retailer September 13, running through October 22, Vogue.com is reporting.

And this collection won’t be limited to women’s wear. Similar to Calypso’s current collections for the super store, Missoni for Target will reportedly churn out over 400 pieces including women’s, kids, and men’s clothing, and bedding and dinnerware for the home. That’s a lot of Missoni stripes and zigzags.

Parson’s grad Alejandro Ingelmo might be fairly new to the shoe design scene–he launched his first collection in 2006–but he’s had almost instant success, scoring a CFDA nom this year for the Swarovski Award for Accessories and was a nominee in 2008, too. Designers like Chris Benz and Cushnie et Ochs call on him to shod their models for their runway shows. So it follows that Ingelmo opened his first stand-alone brick and mortar store this past fall at 51 Wooster St. in Soho.

We chatted with the designer about his sexy spring collection (currently in store), his thoughts on collaborating, and his exciting new business plans for this summer.

Earlier this week, Nine West hosted a preview of their collaboration with Giles at Le Bain, the Standard’s den of iniquity rarely seen during the light of day. Unfortunately, the bain itself was covered with a wood floor, but there still were mango martinis to indulge in. The best part of this daytime party, though, was Giles’ adorable and amazingly priced collection for Nine West and the funny anecdotes he offered about designing, action figures and hit Brit TV.

Focusing primarily around Giles’ original character Eek (you’ve seen him on intarsia sweaters in Giles’ main line), this collab is nothing but fun. The shoes come in sophisticated black wedges, boots, and flats with tough-girl buckle details ranging from $99 to $149, and the totes, priced at $99, are cartoon-cute with Eek emblazoned on the outside and the most precious orange laptop case inside.
