The Olsens? Isabel Lucas?
yeah the olsens were not as good as they usually are. disappointed. mk needed more oomph and ashley just looks like its her first time swimming.
check JERRLIFE.blogspot.com everyone!
Gisele in McQueen. Stunning. Hands down best dressed. Blake Lively, Christina Ricci and Naomi: uumm, WTF were you thinking?
Really? I loved Christina Ricci’s dress, she was one of the only ones who didn’t look like they were going to the Golden Globes.
Now that I’m looking at them all again I guess Christina wasn’t that bad. It was just my very first impression. I guess I forgot to incluse BeyoncĂ© in the “WTF” category!
there are only 17 girls?
thanks we lost a slide! trying to recover it…
Ok premature comment. Liked Ashley O’s dress from the side, not fond of it from the front. Liu Wen, Chanel, and Natalia all looked gorgeous. Props to Karolina for actually doing inspired-McQueen right.
Surprised by how many safe/boring/ugly looks there were. Not many risk-takers, that’s for sure.
Hardly anyone took risks. I was severely disappointed.
Daphne rocked a gown we’ve already seen. In terms of the McQueen repertoire, despite being an amazing gown, it’s boring, perhaps by virtue of it’s overexposure. I’d have liked to have seen Daphne in something extremely grandiose and over the top.
Mother Anna, of course, whom I love, looked amazing in her Chanel HC, but it was very safe.
Yes Giselle wore McQueen, but the McQueen she chose was so pedestrian, safe, and indistinguishable from so many other designers out there. It held, IMHO, nothing of his signature.
Too many other just fell completely and totally flat, to me.
Beyonce, however, somewhat shocked me. Even though the dress screamed nightmare Tina Knowles Dereon creation and was reminiscent of another Dereon, extremely heavy-looking, Baroque-curtain number that she wore on a red carpet, this one seemed lighter and fresher…less heavy-handed, if a bit squished in the boob area. But greater risk displayed there than a lot of other fashion vets displayed.
Overall, I was underwhelmed.
Gisele looks so elegant, fashionistas: have you checked out http://www.clairespromstyle.com ? Let me know! xoxo
It was really a mixed bag – and given that the night was a tribute to McQueen, I would have liked to see far more of it on the red carpet. Daphne was my fave of the night, but Ian, I do agree with you on wanting to see her in something more grandiose from the McQueen archives. I’ve been posting observations as well as hits and misses at http://exshoesme.com.
Hmmm….I checked it out and I have to say that I really like your blog. Very well done, and I like your ideas on a lot of things.
Mariacarla Boscono was best dressed for me hands down: absolutely stunning in Givenchy HC. Also, Liu Wen looked amazing too. Some of the people on your list were just plain boring: Bee, Coco, Zoe, Anna, Dianna, Elle…blah, whatever.
My faves were Beyonce in that velvet Pucci, JLo in that stunning red Gucci Fall 2011, Liv in Givenchy HC, SJP in vintage McQueen, Taylor Swift in J.Mendel, Naomi in Mcqueen, Ashley Greene in Donna Karen.
There were more but I lost count.
Soooooooo many misses that I wonder why they bothered coming at all.
Sereena W. Rhianna, Andre Leon Tally and his played out exasperated choir robes, and anyone who wore those plain jane knee length party dresses I guess they didn’t get the memo.
