Band of Outsiders' Scott Sternberg Wants to Launch a Handbag Collection

FLORENCE--Despite plenty of groveling at this morning's press conference, Scott Sternberg wouldn't tell the Italian journalists desperate to make their 5pm deadline what tonight's Band of Outsiders runway show would entail. (Apparently some papers require their writers to finish the review regardless of whether or not the show has taken place, just so it can be in print the next day.) But he did reveal one nugget of information--the company is "actively" looking at launching a handbag collection. While Sternberg does men's shoes with Sperry Top-Sider (a five-year-long collaboration) and women's shoes with Manolo Blahnik, he's yet to delve into carryalls. So get excited: Those of us obsessed with Sternberg's Whit Stillman-inspired aesthetic will soon have yet another excuse to spend lots of money.
