Which major label just hosted a big blogger event in Florence but asked attendees to sign docs agreeing not to photograph the label’s designer? Bloggers come with cameras surgically attached, just sayin’.

I feel like every time I’m flipping through a magazine and see a pair of shoes that I’m coveting, they are inevitably Pierre Hardy. There is something so completely cool and modern about his shoes, and they’re never too precious. While he’s best known for his signature sky high wedges, which he produces in several iterations faithfully every season, Hardy also produces a dizzying array of other styles that are equally strong.

Although there was no overarching theme for the Pierre Hardy cruise collection, he was obviously feeling a bit mod and graphic. The aqua/orange/pink color combination appears on wedges, strappy sandals, and ladylike kitten heels. A cool aqua blue really popped on a variety of caged sandals and wedges. Need something a bit more toned down? Wedge boat shoes and pop art sneakers should fit the bill.

Mulberry’s DNA is 50% charm and 50% quirk and their resort RTW collection (called spring/summer by the label) didn’t disappoint in that regard. The collection, an homage to English beach culture, includes prints, rhinestones, fruit, and donkeys–plus those absolute necessities: tweed and a rain mac.

Donkey rides, as I learned at the Mulberry presentation, are a beloved beach tradition in England, and the lowly beasts feature on soft sweatshirts–including one for your four-legged friend. The prints, named Bonkers Beach and Stripy Straws, are the happiest things I’ve seen in ages. Bonkers Beach, a small colorful montage of beachy images, appears on loose tailored shorts and a shirtdress. Stripy Straws, based on a picture creative director Emma Hill took after she threw some straws on the ground, pop up everywhere–the print’s especially effective on scarves.

Tiny, colorful rhinestones were sprinkled liberally on everything from tops to dresses to faded pointy-toed denim pumps. And the fruit theme seen everywhere this spring seems to be continuing, albeit in a cheekier version at Mulberry. Happy pears and apples, often with stick-on googly eyes, frolic on tops, sweaters, and bikinis.

God, I feel I’ve gone to therapy just to erase some of them. The cornrows I wore with ’N Sync. That was pretty bad. Britney and I wore matching denim outfits [to the 2001 American Music Awards]. Yeah, another bad choice. I’d probably pay good money to get some of those pictures off the internet.

Kate Moss has been the face of the UK drugstore makeup brand Rimmel London for ten years, but now it seems she’s been doing some behind-the-scenes work for the brand. The girls at Sassybella attended a Coty press event in Sydney and were surprised with the news that Kate designed a color collection for the brand, called appropriately enough, the Kate Moss Make Up Collection for Rimmel London.

The collection includes six lipsticks, in an intriguing array of colors, from orange to a very 90s grey-purple. Eye shadows and mascaras are included. (One can assume that the ads for these won’t involve any controversial touch-ups, like her 2007 Rimmel mascara ads.) The packaging is very Brit. Kate’s signature appears on the lipstick tubes, which are emblazoned with a Union Jack. There’s also a sparkly leopard print lipstick pouch which will be a gift-with-purchase.

Right now, we have no information about when or where Kate’s collection will be available, but, like her fashion collaborations, it’s sure to be a sell-out wherever it ends up. Here’s a peek:

FLORENCE–It’s that time of year again. We’ve landed in Italy for Pitti Immagine, the biannual trade show featuring the best of men’s fashion, as well as up-and-coming women’s designers. This season’s highlights include a Band of Outsiders runway show this evening and a Rodarte event tomorrow night, where the sister duo will launch a new collection as well as their first book: Rodarte, Catherine Optie, Alec South.

But as the young ones from Los Angeles prepared to take the stage, Pitti 80 kicked off with a particularly cool exhibition, curated by fashion historian and critic Olivier Saillard, whose most recent work includes the Madame Gres exhibit at the Palais Galliera fashion museum (where he is director). To uniquely highlight several of the standout menswear brands at the fair (including Brunello Cucinelli and Church’s), Saillard envisioned “Dress Like a Man,” a runway show/exhibition where female models twisted and reshaped traditional menswear into body conscious skirts, jackets, and dresses.

Sienna Miller for JewelMint: We had a feeling all those super stylish celebrities hung out together and Kate Bosworth’s collaborators on her JewelMint company are confirming those suspicions. Following in Rachel Bilson’s footsteps, Sienna Miller is the latest celebrity curator for the site. {People Style Watch}

H&M Gets Smaller: It seems like everyone is doing a children’s line these days (maybe because everyone is pregnant/giving birth?) and now mass retail chain H&M can be added to that list. The clothes are not only very cute, but also for a good cause. They will benefit H&M’s All for Children initiative with UNICEF. {WWD}

The FDA made history yesterday by announcing some new rules for regulating sunscreen labeling. The FDA has been evaluating sunscreen labeling since 1978, without ever doing much about it. Now, at the urging of environmental groups and Congress, the agency announced that the industry is in for a lot of change.

Sunscreens can be confusing, from the ingredients in the product to the claims made on the packaging. The FDA’s biggest concern was regarding UVA/UVB protection, also called “broad spectrum.” While both types of UV rays contribute to sunburn, UVA rays are the biggest culprits in skin cancer and premature aging. Not all products protect against both types of UV rays. The new guidelines should make everything a bit clearer for consumers. Companies have a year to revise their labels; smaller companies have two years.

A quickie summary of the changes:

Finally, we can stalk the new royal couple more efficiently–the official itinerary for the California leg of their upcoming July North American tour was released earlier today. As is appropriate, their schedule revolves heavily around British interests here in the U.S. And yes, there are ample opportunities for Kate to show us her evolving wardrobe–that Jenny Packham gown from last week makes us want to see more. It should also be interesting to see if and how Kate adapts to laid-back California style. Check out the itinerary and plan your schedules accordingly:
