Surprise! We always love Marc Jacobs‘ quirky choices in campaign stars and this one is no exception. Jeurgen Teller himself leaked the photo on his tumblr (which is awesome, by the way) and although he doesn’t explicitly say the photo is for a Marc ad campaign, the fall 2011 outfit says it all. The first thing you noticed was the set–a steaming hot high school gym in NoLita, and a stage filled with reaper-like mannequins dressed head-to-toe in safety orange–almost a life size diorama. “I wanted to do something site specific so that when you went in you were kind of transported to when you were younger,” Chloë Sevigny told us after the lights went down at her first-ever runway show for the collection she designs with Opening Ceremony. “There was an empty stage and I said, ‘We have to do some sort of tableau.’ My friend Charlie Wing is an artist who hasn’t showed yet in New York, and I’m so inspired by him. He loved the gator print. I just wanted something for people to look at.”
But besides the backdrop, there were clothes to see, and they were very cute.

“Human Barbie” Mom Gives Daughter a $9,850 Boob Job Voucher for Her Seventh Birthday
If you thought botox mom was bad, now hear this: 50-year-old Brit Sarah Burge, known as the “Human Barbie” for her addiction to plastic surgery (she’s spent over $800,000 on procedures), is passing on her passion for plastic to her seven-year-old daughter Poppy.
Burge, a party planner and–per the Daily News–an “erotic novelist,” made headlines last year for teaching Poppy to pole dance. Now Burge is racking up column inches again for giving her daughter a $9,850 voucher for a boob job as a seventh birthday present. According to the Daily Mail, Burge told British mag Closer, “Poppy begged me for a boob job, so I gave her the voucher so she can have it after she’s 16, when it’s legal.” Poppy reportedly “squealed with delight” upon opening her present, saying “I can’t wait to be like Mummy with big boobs. They’re pretty.”
Shocked? Appalled? Throwing up a little bit in your mouth? Don’t worry! Burge has preemptively addressed your concerns.

One of the most swoon-worthy designer/muse relationships is the one shared by Sofia Coppola and Marc Jacobs. And while she was credited as an actual collaborator on the SC Louis Vuitton bag collection which was born in 2008, she’s been acknowledged as a muse for a long time by the designer and the house.
The role of muse, often a nebulous one, took on a more concrete form for Vuitton’s resort collection. Julie de Libran, Vuitton’s studio design director, was credited with the design of the resort collection; Marc Jacobs focuses more on the big shows (ie fall and spring) and gives his trusted design team a lot of independence. He told WWD, “It’s all my group, people I’ve chosen because of a shared aesthetic. They enjoy having some freedom to put [cruise] together, and they welcome my comments.” They also welcome his muses, because de Libran asked Coppola to assist with the collection.

Every week, Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet puts a feature on her website called 4AM finds–basically a visual list of cool things that she finds, be they clothes, beauty products, furniture, whatever. Gwyneth Paltrow, who does something similar every week in her newsletter GOOP, and wears a lot of Alice + Olivia, guest edited this week’s edition of Stacey’s feature and shared her current must-haves, some of which actually look affordable (which things she shares on GOOP usually aren’t).

Dear Chris,
I am 12, but I look 15 or 16. Everyone has told me to be a model/designer all my life and I believe I want to start looking now. But I live in a little town named Conway, in South Carolina. We aren’t known for anything but being country. I was born in Washington D.C, so I know a little about fashion but I have no idea how to approach the modeling world or anything like that. My mom is very supportive and all but she has no clue either. What can I do to get noticed, and put myself out there?
-Gracie
Dear Gracie,
Oh the mercurial world of modeling–nothing if not full of twists, turns, scandals, and triumphs.

I ended last night way, way, way uptown at Joie’s new Madison Avenue flagship boutique for a blogger shopping event. Before I got there, I honestly thought, “I would never go this far uptown to go shopping,” but my experience there may have changed that mindset.
For one, the store is super cute. It’s small, but not at all crowded or cluttered. It’s airy and well-lit with out being harsh. It has the look and feel of something high-end but was also somehow super comfortable. And even though the store was all the way up on Madison & 87th, it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. It is so quiet and clean up there. Also, knowing that I was going to get to pick out any head-to-toe outfit I wanted probably didn’t hurt. Still, the sales girls were super sweet and extremely helpful as I tried on a million things and ended up being the last person there (oops).
