Markus Lupfer is another one of these great London-based designers poised to break into the American market in a big way. His fun, knitwear-heavy line is sold in several stores in the UK, Shopbop, Net-a-porter, Opening Ceremony, and has just been picked up by Neiman Marcus and Barneys—perhaps two of the most important retail doors this side of the Atlantic Ocean. He has done collaborations with Cacharel and Mulberry and found fans in girls like Daisy Lowe, Lily Allen, Alexa Chung and Florence Welch.

The latter actually starred in Markus’ latest project, a short film directed by Tabitha Denholm, in which Welch, Irina Lazareanu, Sadie Frost, Mary Charteris, Valentine Fillol-Cordier, Margo Stilley, Jan DeVilleneuve, Liddie Holt and Gary Card, play characters with bizarre afflictions and personality disorders. Called The Puzzle of the Mysterious Mind, the humorous, tongue-in-cheek film is meant to have the feel of a ‘60s mockumentary. Florence, for example, plays an extreme clothes hoarder while Irina is globophobic, meaning she has a fear of balloons. Each character is dressed to the nines in Markus Lupfer resort, which we got to see up close at Monday night’s screening event at the Mondrian Soho penthouse. There are many of his signature knits with fun stripes and colorful sequined embroidery, like trompe l’oeil belts and red-lipped mouths, plus a few great mini dresses.

Crowd pleaser Coach hosted last night’s Summer Party on the High Line. There we found custom monogrammed luggage tags, Dan Humphrey (aka Gossip Girl‘s Penn Badgley) rocking some chest hair, and possibly even more exciting (depending on your appreciation for male cleavage): Grey Goose-spiked ice pops.

After accidentally trekking our best shoes through the park’s new water feature–warning: look down or you’ll get soaked–we stumbled upon a rouge-lipped Paz de la Huerta dressed in a black Gucci number and a re-issued Coach bag. It was the Boardwalk Empire star’s first time in the park since its re-opening, “I used to come here as a child before it was the High Line,” she told us. As for the attention her lipstick’s been getting these days, she said, “The whole thing is ridiculous, it has nothing to do with the color of my clothing. Tonight I’m not wearing a red dress, and I would never match this with black lipstick.”

Dutch artistic duo Lernert and Sander, who are known for doing weird videos like melting a chocolate bunny with a hairdryer, shot Belgian beauty Hannelore Knuts for their latest short film on NOWNESS. Called Natural Beauty, the duo’s goal was “to apply 365 layers of makeup in one day to see how much is needed to go from a natural look to an outrageous one.”

Could Pippa soon be joining the ranks of Kate Middleton and Michelle Obama when it comes to selling power? Apparently, the Duchess of Cambridge isn’t the only Middleton who can move merchandise in shockingly short periods of time.

According to In Style, Pippa Middleton wore this NW3 by Hobbs red linen dress to Wimbledon this morning and it is already sold out at two different e-commerce sites. But then, we realized US Weekly spotted her shopping yesterday in the same outfit. Guess this means she’s back together with her ex-boyfriend who she was sitting next to at the tennis match!!

For Resort 2012, Imitation designer Tara Subkoff went back to her cinematic roots, directing a short silent film starring a glittering bevy of it-girls, from Becka Diamond to Nicole Trunfio, Lissy Trullie, Karima Adebibe, and Cecile Winckler.

Many of these same ladies–as well as requisite sexy actors Marc Ruffalo and Liev Schrieber–mixed and mingled at the Jane Hotel’s bar last night, where Subkoff showed the short in a continual loop. (Charlotte Ronson, Chrissie Miller, Shanea Grimes, Sky Ferreira, Karen Elson, and Jen Brill were there, too.)

Several were wearing the Imitation resort/holiday line, a collection of flouncy dresses and high-waisted trousers, all with a vintage feel.

Remember how Forever 21 tried to shut down Rachel Kane’s satire blog WTForever 21 essentially because they didn’t like her being mean about their store (Forever 21 accused Kane of “unfair competition and dilution” of their brand among other things)?

Well a few lawyers and cease-and-desist letters later nothing much has happened, so Kane has resumed blogging. Here’s Kane’s welcome back letter explaining why she’s keeping on keeping on (and we’re glad she is):

Today is a good day for Ferragamo. The label debuted on the Milan stock exchange this morning to a strong showing. Yesterday afternoon, the storied 83-year-old Florence house presented their first ever show in the US. And, almost as if Ferragamo knew they’d richer the next day, they pulled out all the stops for this resort show.

Ferragamo presented their 2012 resort collection in the grandest of settings–the James B Duke mansion on New York’s upper east side, former home to heiress Doris Duke. (It’s now owned by NYU and houses an art history library for grad students–the space is reason enough to apply.) Models descended from a marble staircase (not an easy feat in sky high platform wedges) as a bevy of A-list celebrities–including Eva Mendes, Frieda Pinto, Emma Roberts and Scott Speedman (who was there with girlfriend Theresa Palmer, creepy stalker photo proof below)–watched on.

Elizabeth Taylor’s Diamonds Touring the World: The late beauty’s jewelry collection will take one last whirl around the world before finally being auctioned off in NYC. There’s couture and art in the lot as well. {omg!}

Mr. Big “Doesn’t Get” What SATC Became: Chris Noth doesn’t think there will be a third Sex and the City film, and he’s happy about that. He also said that he’s OK with no longer being a part of the “circus of attention.” Maybe the rest of Big and Carrie’s story will be left to our imaginations. {Contact Music}

The Bag That Made History Sells For £25,000: Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s black Asprey bag, which was apparently seen as her “secret weapon” and a symbol of power, sold for about $40,000 earlier this week. {Yahoo News}
