PARIS–You cannot say that the designer Thom Browne isn’t having a great deal of fun. Inside the sweltering heat of Maxim’s on Sunday at dusk, Mr. Browne transformed the famed Parisian restaurant/nightclub into a cabaret where the audience sat around tables and waiters served Laurent Perrier champagne.

A male couple dressed in identical navy sleeveless coats and shorts pants mounted the stage and sat on the table and as they sipped on champagne. There was a loud voice singing the original “Cabaret” song in multiple languages and a model in a stone sleeveless seersucker jacket and matching shorts with attached long fringes, as well as a bucket hat with fringes and a coat draped over his shoulder. That was only a starter look.

Reports surfaced in June that Nike had chosen Annie Leibovitz to photograph the fall 2011 ad campaign and we just got a hold of all the images. The campaign stars seven elite female athletes–Nike’s “Make Yourself” team. Nike launched “Make Yourself” last year with the intention of inspiring and motivating women to “achieve their goals and become the best ‘versions’ of themselves.” It would basically be difficult not to feel motivated by these images of impossibly physically fit ladies working out in sports bras, including USA track and field Olympian Allyson Felix, Chinese tennis player Li Na, Algerian-French dancer Sofia Boutella, British hurdler Perri Shakes-Drayton, Russian-born tennis star Maria Sharapova, USA goalkeeper Hope Solo and Australian surfer Laura Enever. Like, if I had a membership to a gym, I would definitely go work out at it right now. Maybe I’ll just download one of Nike’s iPhone workouts instead. Click through for all the images.

Model of the moment Andrej Pejic has landed yet another gig: he’s stepped off the runway and gone back behind the camera to model the look book for indie New York label MadeMe.

Pejic just walked in both mens and womenswear in the same show at Sao Paulo fashion week, closing Lino Villaventura’s spring show like the supermodel he’s fast becoming. He’s modeled for Jean Paul Gaultier and Marc by Marc Jacobs but, as MadeMe’s designer Erin Magee found out, he’s not above modeling for a super small New York label. (In fact, he showed up a half hour early to the shoot.)

Magee, 31, has been in fashion for nine years. She got her start working for Louis Vuitton’s Kim Jones when he was at Umbro and still works full time managing production for Supreme. She’s been designing MadeMe, her passion project, on the side for the past four years (it’s sold at OAK and Colette). This year’s fall collection is comprised of just four pieces and Magee knew that Pejic had to be the one to model them.

“The clothes I make are quite androgynous anyway,” said Magee. “I do mens styles in a feminine fit so he was the perfect model for me.”

Magee even said she styled Pejic less feminine than he’d styled himself when he walked in for the shoot.

A new high-street clothing brand is on its way to the U.S. and you’re going to want to know about it. It’s called Mo&Co and you’ve probably never heard of it unless you live in or frequently visit China, where it’s based, sold and coveted. The french-inspired brand has been around since 2004 and is extremely successful in China, where it has nearly 100 stores. With locations set to open in New York and Paris next year, Mo&Co hopes to gain more international fans, beginning with the premiere of Momentum, a super chic Barnaby Roper-shot video starring Liu Wen and Shu Pei that recently debuted on W‘s blog; and by casting one of our faves, Freja Beha, as the star of its look books.

Mo&Co has just introduced a more high-end series called edit10n, which we are kind of dying over. Mo & Co. gave us a first look at the summer 2011 look book, which you can peruse below, along with the 3-D version of Momentum, which is exclusive to Fashionista. Grab your 3-D glasses and enjoy! Then, feel sad that you’d have to go all the way to China to buy this collection–though we’re pretty confident that whatever ends up stateside next year will be just as drool-worthy. Click through to watch the video.

PARIS–

Dries Van Noten: Mr. Dries Van Noten changed the venue of his show from last season’s sumptuous space at the Musée Bourdelle to an industrial loft, shifting the focus of the collection from a refined and tailored wardrobe to things that are inherently sporty and urban. But he did so without abandoning this fall’s elegant suits and coats, like the Bordeaux wine silk suit worn with an untucked white shirt.

The collection contrasted technology with tradition and sportswear with sartorial construction: this meant a mix of waterproof parkas and silk leggings. There was a yellow parka with the thinness of transparent nylon fabric, a navy hooded long coat worn with tropical wool pants and a tan linen jacket with black nylon stitching. A bonding technique was employed on the outside of parkas and trims of jackets, reinforcing the outlines of the rigid cutting patterns.

The long navy trench belted at the waist, the tan-charcoal-brown striped coats, and the transparent yellow raincoat are sure to be best sellers come spring.

Despite the heavy technical work involved in crafting each outfit, the show was light and airy.

As it turns out, the best possible way to spend your summer Friday might be by frolicking around a traditional Swedish maypole. A mix of music folk, editors, and bloggers including Elin Kling and Kelly Framel convened at the Yard at Soho Grand early Friday evening to celebrate a holiday near and dear to the Kanon Organic Vodka team’s hearts–Swedish Midsummer. After creating custom flowered-and-beribboned headpieces with a little help from downtown florist Ovando, guests dug into straight-outta-Stockholm snacks like lingonberry jam, mini meatballs, and sugared gummy candy.

Fittings are the part of the process where the collection really comes alive for me. They give me a glimpse into what the final show will look like, fulfilling the designer’s vision and my own. Seeing the models in the looks with all of the final accessories and accouterments makes me completely giddy.

When fittings begin, I like to start with the stronger models. The casting director does her/his best to get some of the more famous models in for the first couple of fittings so the designer and I can get really inspired. While this doesn’t always happen, it is a fun way to get this sometimes long part of the process started.

PARIS–PARIS–Moments before several bursts of bright lights shone up and down the runway, signaling the start of the show, loud cheers and hand clapping could be heard coming from the backstage area. It’s a familiar sound for anyone who’s been a regular at Galliano shows prior to the designer’s dismissal from his brand last March, and before John Galliano went on trial last week.

But the air of familiarity ended there.

PARIS–There could not have been a better morning to stage a show outdoors than last Frida, when designer Junya Watanabe presented his spring menswear in the courtyard of a school on the edge of the Luxembourg Gardens.

Under the bright sunshine, just yards beyond the pear fruit bearing trees and with George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord” blasting over two mounted loudspeakers, Mr. Watanabe imagined the look of farm life without ever having any actual living experience. There were tan cotton overalls rolled up with a faded chambray shirt, low front cut denim overalls with floral print cotton shirts and caramel wellies, as well as light pink cotton overalls paired with a blue utilities jacket.
