Adventures in Copyright: Material Girl vs. Butter London
By Steff Yotka and Cheryl Wischhover
Butter London is a high-end range of nail colors; the company works closely with designers and stylists to formulate new colors every season for runways and editorials. Some of these then get produced for us mortals to wear. And who can forget “No More Waity, Katie,” the color released to celebrate Kate Middleton’s exciting engagement to Prince William?
Apparently Madonna and Lourdes were inspired by the brand, because their just-revealed Material Girl beauty line includes a selection of polishes that is more than eerily similar to the Butter London line. From the flat, rectangular bottle with black cap to the actual colors in the bottle, Madonna is causing a commotion with this collection.
