No ideas about what to get your mom for the holidays this year? Why not get her the Terry Richardson-lensed Lady Gaga coffee table book?

It’s amazing that a project like this hasn’t happened already, but it’s just been announced that the two collaborated on a photo book that will be released on November 22. The publisher, Grand Central Books, said in a release that “it will be one of the most stunning, provocative and coveted books of the 2011 holiday season.” Of course it will be!

Apparently Richardson had full access to the singer for ten months from August 2010 through February 2011 and “nothing was off limits.” The end result is 350 black and white and color photos of Gaga, which will be heavy on “random, behind-the-scenes” images. Gaga penned the intro for the book, and hopefully it is a bit less stream-of-consciousness then her rambling columns for V.

In today’s Times Style section, there is a piece titled “Dress Codes in New York Clubs: Will This Get Me In?” The author attempts to reveal the sartorial secrets for getting in to New York City’s most exclusive nightclubs. Apparently, to get into all the hip NYC spots like The Mulberry Project and Provacateur, all you have to do is wear tight jeans, 5-inch heels and forgo stripes.

Here are the most hilarious quotes author and his interviewees’ (NYC club owners) advice for what will “get you in”:

David Beckham might not be a real designer in the way that his wife has turned out to be–but you’ll still be able to buy his clothes at H&M come fall, when his bodywear line (read: undies) launches.

So in honor of Becks and his flawless bod (not to mention chiseled jaw line) joining the fashion fray, we decided to round up all the hotties designing right now. There are really some good looking men out there making clothes for ladies. We couldn’t list them all, but here’s a start. Take a look:

It’s hard to remember a time when American Apparel founder and CEO Dov Charney was not the subject of controversy, whether it’s for forcing employees into sex slavery, putting out pornographic ad campaigns or repeatedly almost leading his business into bankruptcy. As unimaginable as it is, even people like that were once adorable, naive little kids.

Here are four pictures of a very young Dov Charney, via Copyranter, that were apparently taken by his father in the ’70s. We hope Dov was nothing like he is now, or at least significantly more innocent. Of course, this particular time in Dov’s life must have had an impact, as American Apparel has become known for its laid-back ’70s inspiration. Click through for three more pics.

Would You Rather? The New ‘It’ Bag Edition

Thursday, Jul 28, 2011 / 5:00 PM

This fall, we might be seeing a war between two new similarly boxy, slightly masculine chain-handled bags. In corner one, Mulberry’s latest bag, the Carter, is looking like this year’s Alexa. However, news and recent pics of Chanel’s new line, the Boy, makes for a formidable contender. After all, no one does a chain-strap bag like Chanel.

We will admit it: we still love Project Runway. From Heidi’s short skirts and occasional whacked-out hairstyles to the ever-entertaining Michael Kors, it sucks us in every season (even though we pretend to be too cool for it.) But the main reason we keep coming back? Tim Gunn. We can listen to that man and his spectacular vocabulary forever. We think he is a nice person generally, but he can definitely have a sharp tongue and often has no filter when he speaks. We support this wholeheartedly.

To mark the beginning of Project Runway‘s ninth season, we bring you a round-up of Tim‘s best quotes ever, in no particular order (And no, we did not include, “Make it work.”)

As someone who straddles the line between consumer and recommender of beauty products, I find today’s beauty news really fascinating. Allure, which I have read religiously for years, just launched e-commerce with Quidsi, the company which owns Soap.com and BeautyBar.com. Linda Wells, Allure’s EIC, told WWD, “We know that women have always shopped from the magazine,” including Donatella Versace, who gave Wells the idea for e-commerce in the first place.

The idea seems brilliant. The magazine’s website content and commerce will be integrated seamlessly, with a “buy now” button at the ready to allow readers to purchase products that are appealing. Allure has never been afraid to criticize products, and Wells assures its readers that advertising and editorial will be kept separate as always.

OK, so now contrast Allure’s concept with an article by Catherine Saint Louis that just appeared in the New York Times.

Kristen Cavallari Shot A Wedding Spread And Then Ended Her Engagement: The Hills star shot this Life&Style wedding spread and then broke off her engagement with Jay Cutler two days after the photos were released (presumably not because of said photoshoot). The pictures are gorgeous but that’s probably no consolation; bet she’s having a really not fun Sex and the City movie moment right about now. {MTV Style}

Karlie Kloss Covers September Harper’s Bazaar Australia: Excuse my Tyra phrasing, but this is FIERCE. Victor Demarchelier captured Kloss’ signature stare head-on. I feel she’s boring into my soul. I like it. {Fashion Gone Rogue}

The McQueen Exhibit Is Open Until Midnight On It’s Last Two Nights: On Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty will be open to the public until midnight, the latest the museum has ever kept an exhibit open. A spokesperson remarked, “These midnight hours will mark a fitting conclusion to this powerful exploration of McQueen’s work.” We couldn’t agree more. {Met Museum}

Here it is: Hailee Steinfeld’s LOVE Cover

Thursday, Jul 28, 2011 / 12:25 PM

When Chloe Moretz’s LOVE issue six cover was revealed last night, we joked that if the next cover ended up being Hailee Steinfeld we wouldn’t know what to do with ourselves. And, of course, it is (does this mean I’m psychic or was it super obvious?). As you can see, Hailee, too, is crying and wearing white lace, with some amazing rhinestone cuffs (to match Chloe’s devil horns?). We also love Hailee’s natural, wavy hair and I’m dying to know what that lipstick is.

Click here to find out who the rest of the cover girls are. And click through for a side-by-side of all three. Which one will you buy? Read more »

“I was once stranded on a broken-down boat in shark-infested waters in the middle of the Indian Ocean for five days before we were rescued while doing a Vogue shoot. We ended up shooting the story on our way to the airport on the last day.”
