There’s a big fat story in WWD this morning about the rise of fashion reality TV shows, but the only actual news is that Lifetime has a new series in the works starring Alexa Chung.24-Hour Catwalk will be hosted by the presenter/fashion star, and the show will pit designers against each other in runway challenges. We’re hoping this means Zoolander-esque walk-offs, but it probably just means Project Runway-esque competitions (with new contestants each episode).

We’re still stoked for Chung’s PBS series, but who knows if that actually ever went into production. IMBD doesn’t.

Mariah Carey hasn’t made many public appearances since giving birth to twins Moroccan Scott and Monroe back in April, but she surfaced Sunday night to shill her blinged out butterfly jewelry, clothing, and fragrances on HSN. What ensued in those two hours was hilarious, we gather, from Gawker’s edited down footage. Carey gripes about her difficult pregnancy (she suggests some of her HSN merch can serve as “push gifts”), gets confused a lot about which camera to look at, and coins a new word (or at least it’s new to me): pow. A boot is “like pow.” A girl walking down the street in Mariah Carey for HSN is “pow.” This whole clip is POW. Click here to watch.

It sounds like the year’s most highly-anticipated Vogue issue will feature cover girl Kate Moss in more than just one wedding dress. The John Galliano number she chose for her June nuptials will be given some competition, according to reports in Page Six. The gossip column has it on good authority that Moss was photographed in gowns by several different designers for a spread in the glossy. Mario Testino, who also shot Moss’ wedding for the September issue, reportedly shot the spread.

Anna Wintour reportedly asked “about 10″ designers, including Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang and Valentino, to create the looks they’d most like to see Moss wear down the aisle.

It’s kind of hard to believe that 10 major designers created one-of-a-kind wedding gowns just for a magazine spread, but I guess if it happened in Sex and the City, it can happen in real life. Right? It is the September issue after all…

This October, Russian beauty Sasha Pivovarova will be boldly going where many models have gone before–Hollywood. A blink-and-you-miss-it appearance in the new trailer for In Time confirms Sasha has, at the very least, a cameo in the futuristic sci-fi thriller which also stars Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried and other recent model-turned-actors, Alex Pettyfer and Yaya DaCosta.

The story is Logan’s Run meets Children of Men, chronicling a world where time is the new currency and everyone ceases aging at 25. Come to think of it, a model would probably have a lot to draw on in order to act in a film like this.

Sasha’s character actually has a name (it’s Clara) which is always a good sign for any upcoming actress.

Vogue has been conspicuously embracing technology and new media lately. To wit: Anna pronouncing at the Webby awards that “geeks can be chic.” An “ Vogue influencers” network of bloggers. A recent re-boot of the glossy’s website. The under-promoted Voguepedia feature on said website.

Adweek reported last week on the success of Vogue’s ad page sales for its upcoming September issue, which were strong. In the course of the article, Vogue’s publisher Susan Plagemann let drop that they are “rolling out a new web property in December,” but declined to give more details. “The brand’s relevance is at an all-time high,” she said.

According to a reliable source, we’ve learned that this mysterious web property will be a digital archive. That means every single issue since the fashion bible launched in the 1890’s will be available online.

It’s at least 8,000º in New York, or at least that’s what it feels like right now and tomorrow doesn’t look like it will be much different. It’s hard to figure out the best thing to wear in these kinds of conditions. Skimpy and tight or loose and flowy? Dresses or shorts?

There are several different options for keeping at least somewhat cool during a heatwave other than staying inside or going out naked. It’s all about feeling like you’re naked without actually being naked. Stick with thin fabrics in loose silhouettes that don’t cling to the body and steer clear of thing likse thick leather belts and dark colors.

Wear sunscreen, walk on the shady side of the street, go to the movies, and you’ll be cool as a cucumber!

Here are some cute ideas if you need further inspiration.

The many twinkling candles at last night’s Glamour reception for Heidi Klum could only be matched by the supermodel’s equally incandescent Gucci mini and megawatt smile. The event, held at SoHo’s B&B wine bar, was a celebration of Klum’s August cover. Well-schvitzed guests piled in from the heat to sip sparkling rosé in minuscule outfits—which you know are weather appropriate when Michael Kors comments on friend Anne Christensen’s getup by saying, “the whole city should be wearing a romper!“

Designer Chris Benz, fresh off a New York mag centerfold, was there to celebrate the Glamour girl, who he describes as “embracing a certain level of intelligence that I always aspire to in my collections.” Nearby Maria Cornejo, who’ll soon be departing for the Greek Isles agreed: “They have a life, they’re real women. They approach fashion with a sense of humor and also intelligence.”
