My look today is Virgin Suicides meets Twiggy! Right now I’m into a long, flowing, flower-power vibe.
–Elle Fanning in an August Vogue story (her second Vogue appearance this year) about her and her sister Dakota called “Teen Dreams.” In it, 13-year-old Elle and 17-year-old Dakota (who has been disturbing us with her adult-like maturity since I Am Sam) talk to Lynn Yaeger about growing up in show business. The story opens with this quote, in which Elle references several things she should be too young to reference. She was barely a year old when The Virgin Suicides came out, but I guess since she just starred in another Sofia Coppola film and does have such a Lisbon sister vibe, we can let that one slide.
Dakota elaborates on Elle’s fashion obsession, saying “I am in the normal range when it comes to clothes. Elle is not normal.” In the story, Marc Jacobs also comments on his fall campaign stars, calling them “ageless and a little different,”
I’m gonna say neither of them are “normal” but that’s why we love ‘em! Check out August Vogue, on newsstands now, for more.
