Watch: Sex and the City Prequel: The Weird, Hilarious Animated Taiwanese Version
By Dhani Mau
A Taiwanese news site called Next Media Animation just created this video in which the Sex and the City prequel story is acted out by cartoons. They set it up by explaining how the Sex and the City series was “showing its age.” The foursome is shown in a restaurant, where one lady, presumably Miranda, is holding a baby and and Samantha is using a walker. The angle is that Olsen, Gomez, Lively and Roberts are replacing the (literally) old cast, who are being “put out to pasture.” Cue the four ladies being thrown off of a truck into an actual pasture. Then, the new, younger cast comes out of a building with a sign that reads “Starlets R Us” and gets on to the truck. Lively even wears a convincing replica of that spring 2008 Chanel couture dress, though I’d argue it’s too understated for Samantha, especially an ’80s version of Samantha. The whole thing is super weird, but the creators of the video do have a point.
