If Zoya’s fall 2011 nail polish collection is an indication of things to come for our nails, we can’t wait for the leaves to start falling. Called “Smoke and Mirrors,” it’s a 12-color collection which includes six cream shades and six metallics. You can pre-order them now from Zoya’s website if you can’t wait until the official July 15 release; they’ll go for $8 a pop.
The collection was designed and inspired by “top fashion designers and beauty icons.” The press release doesn’t really delineate who designed vs. merely inspired which color, so hopefully more information will be released. Zoya always names its colors after “beautiful women”–see if you can guess who they all are in the new collection:
Jana (smoky mauve quartz cream), Petra (smoky eggplant mauve cream), Cody (smoky brown taupe cream), Anja (smoky palatinate purple cream), Cynthia (smoky Prussian blue cream), Dree (smoky camouflage green cream), Nimue (smoky rich thistle metallic), Marina (smoky steel blue metallic), Tao (smoky slate gray metallic), Yara (sparkly olive green metallic), Neeka (sparkly amethyst purple metallic), and Jem (sparkly fandango pink metallic).
In case you haven’t memorized the entire color wheel, “palatinate” means violet and “fandango” is in the fuchsia family. We love when nail polish appeals to our sense of color AND our love of vocabulary. A win all around for Zoya this season.
