In short, her waist is inhumanely and freakishly small. And while the cover is a tribute to Granger–who still holds the Guinness world record for smallest modified waist at 13 inches–it’s still a rather jarring image to see on the cover of a women’s fashion magazine, especially considering the millions of women for whom struggling with body issues is no matter of ‘artistic license.’
And after viewing images of the actual Ethel Granger (above, left) we’re not sure she’s an icon–eccentric or not–who should be glorified by the fashion industry.
