Designer Geren Ford loves to travel. She even wrote a column for us chronicling her fabulous romps through El Bulli in Spain, to Doris Duke’s Shangri La estate in Hawaii, to Jamaica. So it’s no surprise that for her summer holiday she crammed five European cities into a month. She house-swapped for a lazy stay in the English countryside, rode bikes in Amsterdam, stayed at a super fun hotel in London that offers guests a trunk of vintage clothes to play dress up in, and fell in love with Stockholm. Have a read, take a look, and try not to hate Geren for having so many fun adventures.

From Geren:

This summer I stole away to Europe for a month. I was lucky enough to have friends in almost all the places I visited which made for a very off-the-high street experience. I ended up in London, Lewes in the English country, Antwerp, Amsterdam and Stockholm. It was both inspiring and relaxing and reminded me of when I was little and spent my summers traveling between familiar places and people while visiting my dad in NYC and my grandparents in the country in Northern California.

Click through to follow Geren on her European adventure and pick up some tips if you find yourself in one of these cities anytime soon!

Behold: Alexa Chung for Madewell Fall 2011 campaign images. Aren’t they a beaut!?

Ever since we heard Alexa Chung would be reprising her role as guest designer at Madewell this fall, we’ve been on the edge of our seats–literally–to see what the fashion muse will come up with this time. Unsurprisingly, Chung does not disappoint.

We’re already dreaming about the cozy-looking sweater and on-trend lacy long sleeve tee, seen in these first three snaps from the campaign.

Of course it doesn’t hurt that Alexa, the campaign’s model, is so gorgeous we bet she could make a paper bag look cool–and get us to shill out $$ for it too.

See two more pictures from the campaign after the jump.

Everyone wants to be Pippa Middleton, including Lindsay Lohan, apparently. The troubled starlet, along with her mother and sister, were surprise guests at this weekend’s Kardashian-Humphries nuptials. She wore a long white dress–which isn’t scandalous, as guests were reportedly asked to wear black or white. However, it was the same Temperley London dress that Pippa Middleton wore to that other really big wedding earlier this year. The Royal Wedding’s breakout star wore a custom-made green version of the dress to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s reception back in April.

It can be hard to figure out what to wear to a wedding–especially one as high-profile as this one–and there’s nothing wrong with getting a little inspiration from someone who got it right.

But it looks, well, different on Lohan, no? Who do you think wore it better?

Slavery was one of the greatest perversions of human rights that has ever happened in modern history–and it continues to leave deep scars, even today. So, needless to say, using the term to describe a trend, or fashion accessory, is well, just plain wrong.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what has happened. Last night, Jezebel reported that Vogue Italia posted a feature entitled “Slave Earrings” on their website. The piece features a runway shot of a woman wearing oversized hoop earrings and suggested several earrings in the same style, describing them as classic “slave and creole styles.”

Vogue Italia has already changed the features title to “Ethnic earrings,” in a quick exercise in backpedalling. However, it’s equally frightening that the high fashion magazine, would find the two words–slave and ethnic–interchangeable.

Kim Kardashian and NBA player Kris Humphries exchanged vows and Lorraine Schwartz wedding bands in front of 450 guests in a reportedly $10 million ceremony on a private estate in Montecito, CA Saturday. (Of course, Kardashian Ink., made $18 million off the wedding, the New York Post is reporting, so they still came out with a profit).

We may not know exactly how those vows sounded and looked until E!‘s two-part special, set to air October 9 and 10. But, we already have an idea of of what Kim and her family wore. Kim, who we’ve known for a while would wear Vera Wang, chose a strapless ball gown with full tulle skirt and basque waist with hand-pieced Chantilly lace applique on the bodice and train. Pretty! Bridesmaids Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall and Kylie also wore long strapless white gowns, as did the mother of the bride–though hers had a gigantic white bow on the front.

The groom wore an Ermenegildo Zegna tuxedo with a white jacket and tie. Mason Disick also wore white and was easily one of the wedding’s best dressed, if you ask us. Official wedding photos will be in the September 5 issue of People, which hits newsstands Friday. For now click through for all the video and photos all courtesy of E!.

After months of speculation and rumors about who would replace John Galliano at Dior, the latest report from WWD has Marc Jacobs in talks to take over at the storied French house.

The news flies in the face of the most recent Dior rumors, which suggested that LVMH chair Bernard Arnault would install a lesser known designer at the helm. Of course, if Jacobs is appointed as creative director at Dior, he would vacate his post at Louis Vuitton, and a major reshuffling at LVMH would ensue. WWD is reporting that Phoebe Philo‘s massive success at Celine makes her the frontrunner to replace Jacobs at Louis Vuitton (not to fret, Philo-files, she will reportedly stay on as creative designer at Celine, too).

None of this is set in stone yet–neither Jacobs nor Dior have commented on the report and a source told WWD that “a deal with Jacobs is not assured, but that the American designer and Dior management are so far ‘excited’ about the prospect.”

I don’t have to tell you that the September issue is the most important issue of the year… But in case you’re living under a rock without a copy of The September Issue, it is.

Lucky for us, just about every magazine’s September issue cover has been revealed, from Vogue US romantic Kate Moss shot to a sexy Cindy Crawford on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Singapore. Still missing from the pack is V‘s highly anticipated cover styled by Carine Roitfeld and Vogue Italia’s cover.

From the existing covers we’ve discerned that Louis Vuitton is the new Prada. Vuitton’s AW11 collection appears on 6 of the 51 covers shown here – more than any other label, so far.

And don’t forget that LOVE’s model covers hit newsstands on September 1! Will you be getting a Lara or a Mariacarla?

(p.s. Yes, that is Leigh Lezark on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Korea – it’s the last slide.)
