Lady Gaga‘s latest video for ‘You and I’ leaked on the internet today (and Gaga herself then “officially” leaked it) and here it is. Not surprisingly, there is a lot going on from torture to mermaid sex to a Gaga-on-Gaga makeout session, with a bold outfit to go along with each scene.

Just about every time Lady Gaga comes out with a new video, she’s called out for imitating someone, whether it’s Madonna, Bette Midler, Grace Jones or someone else. However, in the case of ‘You and I,’ Gaga can’t be accused of imitating anyone but herself, and maybe Tilda Swinton. Almost every look in the video reminds us of something she wore in an editorial, an appearance or a performance. Watch the video and click through to see what we mean. Read more »

To no one’s surprise, fast-fashion juggernaut Forever21 has just been named in another copyright-infringement suit, this time at the hands of eco-conscious, indie label Feral Childe. Again, to no one’s surprise, the print in question, pictured above left, does indeed look identical to Feral Childe’s original Teepees print, above right.

Actually the only surprise is that, sadly, given Forever21‘s track record for winning suits, the retailer may get away scot-free–But not if Eliza Starbuck has anything to say about it. The Brooklyn-based designer started an online petition with Change.org to help ensure Feral Childe’s pleas are heard. Yesterday, we caught up with Starbuck to ask her how she got involved, and why she thinks this time, Forever21 might actually listen.

You’ve heard the hype, seen the ads and the previews, and gotten appropriately worked up over the epic 400-piece Missoni for Target collection. Now you can start planning which items to buy and see what they look like on someone other than Margherita Missoni. The full lookbook is here, and it’s a field day of colorful zigzags and swirly patterns with a slight mod vibe.

The world really is coming to an end. Between the economy tanking and London burning we have more sad news to report: Taylor Momsen has quit acting.

The 18-year-old told Elle in an interview, “I quit acting, actually. I quit Gossip Girl and now tour and am in a band and that’s pretty much all I want to do. Hopefully I’ll be able to only do that for the rest of my life.”

Now I know for many of you this comes as a shock, what with all the acting Taylor‘s been doing lately–and all the rumors flying that Gossip Girl cancelled their contract with her–but be strong.

This morning one of our favorite bloggers Garance Doré took to her site to discuss her struggles with body image and compared what she calls “New York Skinny” with “Paris Skinny.” While we commend Doré for discussing a topic that’s so often swept under the rug and for being so open (that’s why we love her)–we couldn’t let some of her comments about fashion girls go by without comment: Namely, that all New York fashion girls are scary skinny, and all Parisian women have great body images.

For example: “The women in fashion in New York, they’re not just skinny. They’re New York skinny. New York skinny means thin to the brink, yet muscly from Pilates because it gives you those super long lean muscles.” As a New Yorker who has lived in the city for six years and worked in the fashion industry for most of it, I just want to clarify something: We are not all anorexic. Sadly, like most women in the world, girls who work in fashion do face unrealistic body standards–and sadly, yes, many of women in the industry struggle with it. But I certainly wouldn’t say it’s the norm–or that it’s accepted.

With recessions and economic uncertainty plaguing retail all over the world, you would think products like $39,000 handbags wouldn’t do so well, right? Wrong. Apparently, the luxury market has been doing so well it’s spawned a new market: hyper-luxury.

Instead of tightening their belts, wealthy shoppers are just raising their standards, according to WWD. People want to invest (if you can call it that) in extra special things, even if that special touch, whether it’s an exotic skin or customization, makes the item that much more expensive. And designers like Fendi, Tom Ford and Victoria Beckham are more than happy to cater to those people.

Alber Elbaz puts it nicely: “If a handbag is the price of a house,” he says, “the customer wants to make sure she’s the only one who’s got it.”

Are these things expensive enough for you, luxury customers?

Style Startups is looking for ‘Fashion 2.0′ editorial and research interns to help explore the exploding world of web-based fashion technology.

Style Startups will be launching late this fall, and will be a platform for tracking and exploring all types of ‘Fashion 2.0′ business ventures (think flash sale sites like Gilt Groupe and social shopping like Fashism and subscription sites like Shoe Dazzle). They’ll also be educating existing companies and mentoring new entrepreneurs. They are currently looking for interns so nice, smart, and amazing, they’re never going to want to let them go.

This is a great fit for those fashion geeks out there – you must love fashion and have a deep interest in technology as well (social media savvy, of course, but more, too… disruptive new online business models, 3D accessory printing, whatever geeks you out).

Responsibilities include:
Research – combing the web for new and existing fashion websites and entering them into a database. (Yes, that means looking at fashion sites all day!)
Blogging – writing about new and interesting fashion 2.0 things that you discover as you comb the web.
Social media – some pr + marketing work using all the usual social media channels.

Coincidence or trend? Former ANTM contestant Fatima Siad appears in Arise #13 with red rose petals in her mouth, while pretty-boy Andrej Pejic covers Follow #5 with a similar red flower in his mouth. Let’s only hope this inspires an ANTM challenge in which the contestants are forced to wear the same outfits and do the same poses as some feminine male models. You know it’s a good idea Tyra.

But back to the issue at hand – who do you think works the flowery look better: Miss Fatima or Mr. Andrej?

Things have to get really bad at your media job before you decide that hitting send on a dishy and potentially damaging email about your place of work to Gawker is a good idea. So it seems that things are pretty bad at Glamour. And stinky.

A tipster sent the following email to Gawker yesterday:

For years, the ladies’ room of the 16th floor of Glamour has had a mystery shitter who has left enormous packages in various toilets and appeared to purposefully not flush. Despite signs ranging from laminated “please remember to flush” posters and haikus of middling wit being taped inside each stall, the mystery shitter continues to shit, a silent, odiferous protest against a work environment that regularly keeps staffers there past midnight-3 a.m. nights are not unheard of.

This is totally gross and all, but also happens everywhere. We heard it happens at Teen Vogue too (is this a problem at Conde? What’s cooking in that famous cafeteria?), and I even heard tale of poo on the floor of a magazine that shall remain nameless that was then dragged into the newsroom.

Poop stories aside, the real scandal lies in the confession of how shitty (in the non-literal sense) things are inside Glamour HQ, Conde’s shining star in ad revenues and circulation. The tipster goes on to recount how staffers are totally miz at Glamour and doing happy dances when they leave for lower paying jobs:
