Interested in the beauty market? Here’s an internship you don’t want to miss:

Luxury Swiss beauty brand La Prairie (best known for cult favorite cobalt blue Skin Caviar and $1,000 platinum-infused anti-aging cream) is looking to hire a self-proclaimed beauty product lover and aspiring publicist for a Fall 2011 PR internship. The internship starts late August – December 2011(dates flexible).

Amazing experience and exposure to how a cosmetics company handles their communications internally and to the press – this is an ideal opportunity for communication students in college or recent grads . The intern will help with building and maintaining media lists, drafting press releases, handling product send-outs, pitching print and online media, vendor sourcing, assisting at company press events and handling admin duties. Aside from working with Communications, you’ll also have exposure to the work of the Spa division too, which handles our NYC, Beverly Hills and Grand Cayman and soon-to-be Bel-Air namesake spas.

A desire to learn all about PR, an ability to think on your feet quickly, a polished, professional look and resourcefulness are musts.

Nordstrom, the only major department store that isn’t in Manhattan (and as a Seattle native, one of my favorites), continues to tease us by opening Treasure & Bond–a charity store in SoHo that also happens to be the brain child of philanthropist Catie Marron and Vogue‘s Anna Wintour, WWD is reporting.

Since the proceeds from the store will be going to different New York-based children’s charities (Wintour and Marron chose the first round), Nordstrom won’t be making a profit from this and you won’t find the Nordstrom name anywhere in the store. It’s more of an experiment and a way to make connections and to gauge response.

“Anything we can do to make us better and more informed is important,” CEO of Marketing Pete Nordstrom told WWD. “By virtue of the fact that Treasure & Bond has a philanthropic aspect, it connects us to the community.”

It’s a smart move–especially if one of those connections is already Anna Wintour–she’s kind of the most important one.

Just what the world needs: Another Kardashian clothing line. Mother Kris, who recently hyphenated her last name to include Kardashian, is launching a line with QVC this fall.

The Kris Jenner Kollection (yes, it’s really called that) will include such staples from Kris’ wardrobe as black leggings, white button-downs and black blazers–all of which the Kardashian matriarch frequently sports on her family’s popular reality TV show. The line will launch on QVC’s live New York Fashion Week broadcast on Sept. 8, and, like a true self-promoting Kardashian, Kris will promote her kollection by wearing it throughout the new season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and tweeting about it.

The pieces will range from $35 to $140, and while we could live without the zippered leggings (seriously, why does every celebrity line have to have them? ahem, Lohan) there are a few pieces from the line that actually kind of work, like the sleeveless Tuxedo dress, shown in the look book.

Besides being at war with the letter C, Kris Kardashian-Jenner revealed to WWD that she has some other rather lofty goals:

In the video component to Doc Martens “First and Forever” campaign, Agyness Deyn gives a touching performance opening up about her first heartbreak. “It’s like mourning isn’t it?” she asks. “It’s gut wrenching and then…you have to try to feel whole yourself again.” Model Ash Stymest, who also stars in the print campaign, plays Aggy’s faux boyfriend in the ad.

Maybe it’s just early but I’ve got to confess I got a little misty. And I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a lot more of Deyn on screen in the future.

Andrej Pejic is one interesting dude. Or lady. Depending on how he’s feeling. Here, highlights from the gorgeous (and surprisingly funny!) model-of-the-moment’s interview with New York mag.

Carine Roitfeld gave him his start:

In Europe’s fashion world, where the masculine ideal is a good deal less masculine, Pejic found some work, but he didn’t become one of the industry’s coveted items—the modeling world’s version of the Birkin or the Spy Bag or the Muse—until Carine Roitfeld, then editor-in-chief of French Vogue, decided to dress him as a woman for an editorial shoot. “Carine Roitfeld was just like, ‘Put him in Fendi!’ ” Pejic explains

He’s not that into labels:

“I guess professionally I’ve left my gender open to artistic interpretation,” he says…
By now, Pejic has fully embraced a look of gender-bending, rocker couture: ripped jeans and cut-up T-shirts and shorts that would seem to leave nothing to the imagination except that, in his case, they obviously do. “It’s not like, ‘Okay, today I want to look like a man, or today I want to look like a woman,’ ” he says. “I want to look like me. It just so happens that some of the things I like are feminine.”

Before making it as a model, Pejic had some humble beginnings (he’s joking, we think, but still):

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen‘s latest promotional video for Stylemint advertises their “August T Moment” contest, wherein you submit a photo or video of yourself wearing a t-shirt and showing how you “keep cool” and are entered to win a year’s worth of free Stylemint tees. Here, Mary-Kate and Ashley show us how they keep cool–by splashing each other with water in a kiddy pool. As former megafans of Mary-Kate & Ashley videos, we couldn’t help but be reminded of some of their earlier work that had similar themes. Read more »

Last night Tyra walked the red carpet at VH1′s Do Something Awards wearing, wait for it…a jumpsuit. Bet you didn’t see that coming, right?

Actually, as it happens, Ty Ty’s got a thing for jumpsuits. And by thing, we mean full on obsession. We don’t know if it’s figure flattery, sartorial preference or that she really digs having to go through an obstacle course to pee, but whatever it is Tyra cannot seem to get enough of her one-pieces. (See also: Tyra and ALT’s hilarious Fa Fa Fa Fashion video ode to jumpsuits and the Fug Girls’ 12 Fugsuits of Banksmas.)Also, as it happens, Tyra has a book coming out. Naturally, we put the two together and voila, a look back and Tyra‘s best jumpsuits, accompanied by some of our favorite Modelland quotes.

Enjoy.

Here’s a new development in the neverending saga that is France’s apparent disregard for age-appropriateness (or our extreme prudishness and over-sensitivity–depending on your persective): a new line of “loungerie” (that’s lingerie plus loungewear) for girls aged three months and up has just been brought to our attention. It’s called Jours Après Lunes, and it bills itself as “the first designer brand dedicated to ‘loungerie’ for children and teenagers, comprised of loungewear and lingerie to be worn over and under, inside and outside.”

Did you ever think you’d hear “Sarah Palin” and “nail art” in the same sentence? Us neither. But it’s happened. Getty photog Chip Somodevilla (nice catch sir!) caught the pol with her feet looking a little worse for wear and her toes covered in black polish and white polka dots at the Iowa state fair on August 12. He also noticed that she’s wearing a shirt designed by Alina Vilasante which reads, “Love is not something you look for . . . . Love is something you become!”

We, along with the rest of the fashion-lovin’ internet, swoon over nail art. We’re always hunting down the latest trends in nail art, the latest effects (magentic, crackle finish, etc.,), the newest hues, and which celebs are “edgy” and clued in enough to be on top of the latest polish craze. We never expected Sarah Palin to be among those famous people making a statement on her nails. And now we feel conflicted about our love for nail art. Does this mean it’s jumped the shark? How do Sarah Palin’s polka dot toes make you feel?
