Last night, I stopped by an exclusive blogger event at Anthropologie‘s showroom to check out what they have in store for fall. Besides the free Sofia minis and candy, my favorite thing about event was the sketches and swatches and cuts of fabric they had up on the walls throughout the room. It was like a little peek into how all their beautiful clothing gets made. Read more »

It’s a sad day when women as slim as Kate Middleton get the photoshop treatment. Alas, this is the world we live in.

When Grazia‘s special edition wedding issue came out shortly after the big event, readers were convinced that the magazine had digitally whittled Kate‘s already-whittled waist. Indeed, The Duchess of Cambridge‘s waist (in the image at left) does look peternaturally tiny. After initially denying the rumors Grazia finally published an apology and explanation in their most recent issue, reports the Daily Mail.

Kristen Stewart smolders, cat-eyed and ’60s style, on the cover of W‘s September issue, photographed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott and styled by Edward Enninful. Inside, Stewart, who normally looks a bit scowl-ly and tomboyish, is pure smoky sexy ’60s glamor wearing Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, and Junya Watanabe. Check out the pix and highlights from Stewart’s interview with Lynn Hirschberg in which she talks about how her big break involved singing a song about a dreidl, says she’s still insecure about her “tomboy” quality, and opens up about saying goodbye to Bella Swan.

One of our favorite celebrity clothing designers may not be taking the bow at her upcoming runway show during New York Fashion Week next month.

However, Gwen Stefani has a pretty good excuse–she’ll (possibly) be in Los Angeles finishing up No Doubt’s first new album in 10 years, which we are so excited about that we’re pretty sure we can forgive her. Plus, with three clothing lines (including Harajuku Mini which launches at Target in November), two fragrances, and Zuma, she has a lot on her plate.

A spokesperson for L.A.M.B. told Page Six, “Given the extraordinary demands of working on three fashion lines while also finishing a new record, it is hard to say whether she will be able to attend the actual presentation in New York next month.”

This makes us wonder how important Gwen Stefani’s presence at her show really is.

Gwynyth’s got goop, Jay-Z has Life + Times, Rachel Zoe has Zoe Report–even undercover tech-wiz Zoe Saldana’s got a website (dedicated to fashion no less). Yep, it seems you really aren’t anyone till you have an online publication these days.

The latest to jump on the e-bandwagon is designer and de la Renta heir Moises de la Renta, who told Interview Magazine that he will be launching an online magazine and store later this month. The mag, which will be housed at moisesoscar.com, will cover virtually every topic under the sun, including “pieces about culture, health, beauty, food, travel, and the environment.” The site will also focus on photography, which de la Renta sees as an important component of the Moises Oscar identity, telling the magazine that he’s passionate about “capturing beautiful and unique objects, settings, and people while expressing a certain point of view.”

Ever notice how sometimes the most stylish girls at fashion parties are behind the DJ booth? Well, for the most part, that’s no happy accident. Over the past few years, it seems a crop of young, well-dressed fashion girls has emerged as the go-to djs for fashion parties. Brands these days want girls who look the part. What’s interesting about them is that almost none of them are just djs for a living. Most have some other role in the fashion or entertainment industry that occupies their daylight hours, while their nights are spent looking cute with headphones as their main accessory. Tonight, for example, we’re headed to a party that model/actress/musician Solange Knowles is dj’ing.

The following 10 girls have varying degrees of actual DJ talent, but what they do have in common is an innate sense of style that we all want to emulate. Here’s a little guide to who these girls are.

A friendly reminder: Banana Republic’s Mad Men inspired collection goes on sale today at select BR stores. I had the chance to try it on yesterday, and trust me, it’s actually good. You’ll never want to wear to jeans and tee shirts again. Read more »

Since LOVE Issue Six (which is now available in the U.S., btw!) is dedicated to “discipline, obsession and desire,” it’s only fitting there would be some sort of spread featuring uniforms with a little sumpin’ sumpin’. They delivered with aplomb in this sailor-themed spread featuring Alessandra Ambrosio as one very aesthetically commanding member of the Navy. It couldn’t be a further departure from her last appearance in LOVE, in which she was made to look like a Barbie. Here, she’s almost toying with masculinity–her hair may be slicked back and she’s relatively makeup-less–but we would recognize the Victoria’s Secret model anywhere. One piercing look from under those bold brows is a siren song indeed. Click through for the full spread. Read more »

Las Vegas has a peculiar obsession with Australia right now. There’s a show running there called, “The Australian Bee Gees Show,” and my personal favorite, “Thunder from Down Under” (flier at left), a sort of Chippendales-go-to-the-Outback man stripper show.

The obsession continued inside the Cosmoprof convention center–multiple brands from Australia and New Zealand were featured.

Click through to check out five brands to watch from Australia and New Zealand–you’re going to see them on shelves here in the US soon.

The bag on the left is Botkier’s ‘Trigger Clyde,’ which debuted in Fall 2009. The bag on the right is from Sears’ Kardashian Kollection, which hit stores this week. See the problem?

Botkier certainly does. The contemporary womenswear brand, which launched in 2004, took to their blog to vent: “We just discovered how our Botkier ‘Clyde’ was simply copied by Kardashian Kollection for Sears. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery but we don’t think so…”

Handbag designer Joy Gryson makes seriously covetable Italian leather bags for everyone from Target shoppers (she did a collaboration line there in 2008) to those willing to spend thousands on a backpack. Between her namesake line, the trendier lower-priced Olivia Harris line, and the newly-launched evening bag line, Capsule, the woman is definitely someone who deserves a vacation. Recently, Joy and her husband and business partner, Pete, took some much-needed R&R to St. Barth’s for their 10 year wedding anniversary (are they not a painfully adorable couple??).

Check out the snaps they took of the tropical island. Jealous? I know I am.
