American Apparel is really, really trying. The company, which we reported earlier will begin to carry other brands, was front-row-and-center on our daily newsletter from ASOS, who has recently started carrying the brand.

According to a press release on PR Newswire, the two companies inked a deal August 9, after a test buy earlier this year resulted in success: “Initial consumer reaction was extremely positive as expected, hitting 100% sell through on first delivery,” Robert Bready, ASOS Product and Trading Director, said in the press release.

As we all know, American Apparel has been in a downward spiral for quite some time now. However, they seem to be on the right path lately, having recently announced plans to also sell their product on eBay and in Bloomingdale’s.

We’ve always been big fans of Gap’s 1969 denim collection and this fall there’s even more to love. Because beyond the classic perfectly worn-in skinnies and on-trend high waisted flares, the line is making a push to incorporate sportswear elements into the line. Think jeggings, leggings, cords, button downs and blazers. That means from work to weekend, this line has got you covered.

We’re especially psyched for the cord leggings that come in bright poppy colors and the ponte knit leggings in that goes-with-everything olive army hue. Of course, the best part about this range–and the reason we’ve been fans from the get-go–is the fit. Gap’s 1969 jeans makes your bum look amazing, and isn’t that the point? And at a super affordable price point, we’re hooked. “Fabric and fit are the keys to the fall collection— focal points of every piece,” says Rosella Giuliani, Gap’s 1969 Creative Director. “We’ve taken beautiful and interesting fabrics and then tested their reaction to different cuts, washes and dyes. The result is a range of new styles and fits that stretch beyond denim into a broader collection.”

And here’s the good news: Gap is taking $20 off all 1969 jeans in store now through August 24 (certain restrictions apply, see store for details). So get on it. You owe it to your cute little bum.

In case you haven’t heard, @CondeElevator is an anonymous Twitter account that chronicles the most ridiculous conversations overheard in the Conde Nast building’s fabled elevators. From lowly interns to infamous editrixes, no one is left out and the account already has over 55,000 followers and counting.

When we first heard about this Twitter spy, who is presumably a Conde Nast employee, we thought it was a pretty risky move–there was no way the higher ups at Conde would be pleased about this. However, the publishing company has recently spoken out about the account and their feelings about an employee putting their shit on blast may not be what we’d expected.

According to WWD, American Apparel will now focus on selling third-party merchandise–the latest in the company’s long struggle to stay afloat.

In particular, the brand has plans to reinvigorate it’s accessories department–which currently only account for a small percentage of total sales–by scouting for new, autonomous labels to shill in-store. To that end, Dov Charney and chief business development officer Marty Staff will be visiting trade shows MAGIC and Project later this month (female vendors beware) to suss out what brands they might want to bring into the fold (and what brands are willing). Their footwear department, which the retailer has been steadily growing since launching a few years back, will also benefit from some new additions:

The Official Kate Moss Wedding Photos

Thursday, Aug 11, 2011 / 9:33 AM

The purple McQueen dress may have come as a bit of a surprise to those who expected to see a wedding dress on Kate Moss’ September Vogue cover. Not to worry, though–there are dozens of wedding photos to be found inside of Kate and her glamorous guests. Terry Richardson’s unofficial photos made Mosstock look like the most fun wedding ever, and Mario Testino’s have pretty much confirmed that.

The just-released official photos include Kate, Jamie, Carine Roitfeld, Daphne Guinness, Terry Richardson, Stella McCartney, Naomi Campbell and more all against the gorgeous backdrop of Kate’s Costwolds home. Also worth noting: all of the ladies appear to be wearing either black or white. We’re not sure why–perhaps Kate requested it precisely because those are the two colors you’re not supposed to wear to weddings?

There are a couple of editorial shots thrown in there as well–including (a very tasteful) one of Kate and her daughter, Lila, topless (Here’s hoping that does not incite Thylane Blondeau-esque outrage). Click through for the amazingness. Read more »

It’s finally here: Vogue‘s all-important September issue covered by Kate Moss in a purple McQueen and photographed by Mario Testino. The cover story, written by Hamish Bowles, is a really lovely read, and offers an insidery peek at Kate and her wedding as Bowles was a guest himself. Here are the highlights:

By now you’ve all seen the controversial photos of 10-year-old-model Thylane Loubry Blondeau in French Vogue. Indeed, since we first raised questions about the young model’s age and look last week, the internet has exploded with all sorts of viewpoints, ranging from moderate concern, to vehement outrage to practically incoherent hysterics. Of course, we’re all for discussion, and people are entitled to their opinions, which, considering the subject matter, we’re not really surprised have risen to passionate heights. But at what point does lambasting a 10-year-old-child for being exploited, actually begin to exploit her all over again?

Here, a range of reactions. Where do you fall in the spectrum?

Next month’s Harper’s Bazaar features an editorial of top brit model (and Mick Jagger spawn) Georgia May Jagger dressed as Margaret Thatcher. Don’t get me wrong, we love Georgia as Maggie, but doesn’t this look remind you of another British political themed shot? We’re talking about Agyness Deyn as Queen Elizabeth in LOVE #1–the image was used to promo the mag’s first ever issue.
