Guess Kenneth Cole’s Tweet-astrophe didn’t serve as a cautionary tale for some fashion publicists. (In case you need a refresher, during the unrest in Egypt in February the designer tweeted “Millions are in uproar in #Cairo,” rumor is they heard our new spring collection is now available online at http://bit.ly/KCairo -KC.”)

In the inbox just now, a pitch for coverage from last night’s party celebrating the launch of INC’s Editor at Large campaign:

“Last night while rioting ensued on the streets of London – Tom Stubbs caused a riot of his own with editors and guests at Parlor for the launch of INC’s Editor at Large campaign.”

Really? I mean, really?

Bande des Quatres is a very cool, very promising new jewelry line by a young New York-based designer named Erin Wahed. Despite having launched less than six months ago, Erin’s eye-catching and somewhat mind-blowing collection of rings has already caught the attention of Vogue.com, Elle.com, Brad Goreski and Jessica Alba (via Brad who is apparently styling her now!). Erin studied fine art photography at NYU and then worked (and still does, full time) as a production manager before launching her first collection of Bauhaus-inspired rings.

Regardless of whether or not you know anything about art, these rings will make you do a double-take because of the optical illusion they create. The 18 kt yellow and palladium white gold rings appear to float on the wearer’s hand–they’re sort of like the inverse of a knuckle ring.

The line of high-end jewelry wasn’t something Erin had planned to do, but the result of a project that kept getting the attention of both friends and strangers. However, it wasn’t a huge stretch–her mother, Janis Kerman, is an established fine jewelry designer in Erin’s hometown of Montreal. We’ll let Erin tell you more about how the line came about, where it’s going, and what it’s like working with mom.

Steven Tyler is enjoying his umpteenth resurgence as a pop culture commodity right now with his popular stint as a judge on American Idol. A long-time style icon, and still proving he has a good eye–he was an early adopter of the hair feather extension, after all–Steven Tyler is the inspiration for a new contemporary clothing line called Andrew Charles. The line will be exclusive to Macy’s, and will be sold in the store’s Impulse department.

Andrew Charles is the brain child of Andy Hilfiger, brother of Tommy (who isn’t involved in this endeavor). The Hilfigers are well-documented supporters of the music industry, and Andy told WWD, “I grew up on Aerosmith and Steven Tyler. I’ve always loved his music and his style.” Andy was involved in J.Lo‘s Sweetface line, so the blurring of music and fashion is familiar to him.

If there’s anything we love more than when a storied heritage brand teams up with a fun, modern brand, it’s when fashion teams up with cats. In the case of Liberty of London‘s latest collab with none other than Hello Kitty, we get both and the result is pretty amazing.

Now that Liberty’s London department store has a new spa and beauty hall, they’ve chosen Hello Kitty’s adorable face to inject some cuteness into a range of cosmetics pouches and cases.

Both ladies have now completed the journey to full-on movie star by landing a major cosmetics contract. Revlon just announced that both actresses were singed as global brand ambassadors, WWD reports.

Have you ever thought, gee, I really wish I could carry a piece of Bernie Madoff around with me all the time? We know, us too. Seeing this vast and obvious hole in the market, tech entrepreneur John Vaccaro bought a stack of Ol Bernie’s clothes at a U.S. Marshals auction last year and is now selling them, redesigned as iPad covers, under the label Frederick James.

According to the brand’s website, “the collection is made from a limited number of personal clothing items belonging to the notorious felon, Bernie Madoff,” including designer duds like Christian Dior sweaters, Ralph Lauren trousers and two pairs of pants by…Banana Republic and J. Crew. Yep, the man who swindled $65 billion still picked up his pants at the mall. Other fun facts learned about the super-villian:

So you know how I have a minor obsession (it’s not a problem, really) with fashion and cats? Well Vice got inside my head and made a book called Fashion Cats featuring supermodel kitties Prin and Kataro wearing everything from tiaras and capes trimmed in lace to bunny and frog hats (because it’s the funniest when animals are dressed like other animals). Prin and Kataro are the prized pets of Takako Iwasa, whom Vice bills as “Japan’s premier cat tailor.”

Take a look at Prin and Kataro in Iwasa’s creations. They nearly outshine Freja as a Chanel cat. Nearly.
