After a press release from Paddy Power (the famous British bookmaker) hit our inbox detailing the odds for who might design Lady Gaga’s wedding dress, we had to back up a little bit. Lady Gaga’s getting married?

The source of the wedding rumor, the UK’s Daily Star, says that Gaga is planning to marry on-off musician beau Luc Carl in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. (While break-up rumors swirled back in May, the couple were publicly spotted together this July.) In addition to a regular ceremony, she supposedly wants to have a ceremony in an 18,000 seat venue there and invite a bunch of lucky little monsters.

OK, so let’s just assume that this wedding is actually happening. It’s definitely fun to contemplate.

Lanvin’s Steven Meisel-shot fall/winter 2011 campaign images of Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmermann dancing left us all wondering if there would be a video associated with it. Thank god, there is. In this making of feature, Karen, Raquel and some male models do choreographed dance moves to Pitbull’s “I Know You Want Me,” maintaining their serious model faces throughout. Watch til the end, when Alber Elbaz gets in on the action. Read more »

Who’s the latest It Girl everyone in fashion is talking about? Irene! No, she’s not a gorgeous, 5’11 supermodel from the Ukraine, she’s the hurricane that’s been slowly making her way up the east coast. While Irene wrecked serious havoc in North Carolina, NYC was lucky enough to miss the brunt of her force. And, fashion people being fashion people, they had a lot to say about it. Check out our top ten Irene-related fashion tweets from this weekend.

So Irene didn’t blow us away but Alexis Bittar‘s 2012 resort look book did (OK, we’re exaggerating a lot, but still–look).

Bittar’s look books usually feature a mannequin not a model, but this season that mannequin has gone surreal. Every page is a unique and crazy photo-collage – the kind of thing you want to tear out and put on your bedroom wall between your Jordan Catalano poster and Sofia Coppola‘s Vogue Paris cover.

So take a gander at the kooky compilations. It will definitely brighten this dreary day.

Filmmaker and style icon Sofia Coppola married longtime rocker boyfriend Thomas Mars Saturday in the remote southern Italian village of Bernalda. The rumors about her dress were true–Sofia wore a custom made lavender gown by Azzedine Alaïa and here is the first photograph to emerge, via People.

Her father, Francis Ford Coppola, walked her down the aisle in the garden of his villa, Palazzo Margherita. The civil ceremony was officiated by Bernalda’s mayor Leonardo Chiruzzi, who told the Associated Press, “If they wanted to do a Hollywood wedding, they wouldn’t have done it here…(They) chose to do it here because it’s here–it’s here that is beautiful.”

Another style icon and hip musician are getting hitched.

In what promises to be a slightly more under-the-radar ceremony than Mosstock, filmmaker Sofia Coppola will wed her longtime boyfriend and father of her two children, Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars (née Croquet), in Bernalda, Italy tomorrow night. Though, like Mosstock, the ceremony will take place at a family-owned villa in a small village. Here’s everything we know, including dress speculation:

If Tuesday’s earthquake taught us anything, it’s that certain Californian elements just don’t translate to the Atlantic coast–at least not without a lot of Twitter protest. But when we heard several months ago that Kate Spade New York, purveyor of all things preppy-pretty, was poised to team up with L.A. stylists Emily Current and Meritt Elliot (the same team behind those perfectly slouchy boyfriend jeans) for a special collection, our ears instantly perked up.

On Wednesday night, we headed to Kate Spade New York’s Broome Street boutique to witness the results. From leather-edged envelope clutches sparkling with charcoal-toned sequins to ostrich-skin shoulder bags and logo-free satchels sure to get even better with age and wear, every single piece in the duo’s “Westward” lineup embodies heritage-steeped simplicity.

In between sips of champagne and bites of sliders, we chatted with Kate Spade New York Creative Director Deborah Lloyd about how the collab came about. “It was all about joint admiration,” she said, “plus, my own assistant wears Current/Elliott head-to-toe to work!” Lloyd explains that while us Manhattanites tend to go for a “matching, polished” aesthetic, she loved the notion of adding a Californian touch to her label’s famously girly look. “It was all about the laid-back style and relaxed peace that they brought to the bags, the unusual materials and the mixing-up of things. But you still see those Kate Spade pops of polish and sweetness.”
